during a set of gang-related murders in Pattaya he started making noise about changing visa requirements

Even he knows about visa agents, altering visa requirements only affects the nice guy's.........:coffee1:

Do your own research, I dont recall being charged with increasing your local knowledge

I did mine. What about you? Nothing in the press supporting his vilification on this forum. I challenge you to produce evidence.

i have no evidence, no agenda, no dog in this fight, and no case to collapse.

you asked another somewhat paranoid poster why they thought he might be problematic for foreigners and I ventured a possible response.

it seems to me you are the one looking for someone to entertain them, go tilt another windmill.

He didn't make that law. He ENFORCED the existing laws. He is a policeman it is his job. He stopped the bribery of immigration officials by foreigners.

The bribery of immigration officials continues in relation to most issues there are advertisements on this site on how to obtain a Retirement Extension without having the required amount of money in the bank.

How do you think that occurs ?

Same way it did before he started the job.  He isn't there anymore, he was removed from his post in immigration   hence they are back to their old tricks

he hasn't had any involvement in immigration for a long while

Like everything here, "yes, but"...

I think four members of Hapkarn's gambling cohorts, in this latest "Minnie" case, were heads of provincial immigration offices.

And Hapkarn was sacked a few years ago for the Tuhao mess, which involved over one hundred immigration officers selling visas to Chinese ganglsters.

If anyone thinks Hapkarn did a bang-up job at immigration it would be wise to remember that most all of the senior management NOW did report to him in the past in that organization.

Yes, he did get rid of the tip-jars. Bravo.

I don't recall anything changing while he was supposedly in charge certainly not in Chiang Mai, each region appears to run it's own race and make it's own rules.
