Former Navy Officer Arrested for Running Illegal Abortion Clinic, Admits He Is Not a Doctor
Picture courtesy of ThaiRath. In a shocking case, a former naval officer has been arrested for running an illegal abortion clinic in Bangkok. The individual, identified as 55-year-old Lieutenant Thanaboon Kritkulthitthada, was caught by police at a clinic in Soi Phetchaburi 31, Makkasan, Ratchathewi District. The arrest came after local residents reported suspicious activities at the location. Upon raiding the clinic, officers from the Metropolitan Police Investigation Unit discovered Thanaboon performing medical procedures on a patient. When asked to present his medical license, the suspect was unable to provide one. During questioning, Thanaboon confessed that he was not a licensed doctor but had been performing illegal abortions at the clinic. Police Major General Teeradej Thamsutheer, commander of the Metropolitan Police Investigation Division, stated that Thanaboon admitted to all charges and had previously been arrested for conducting illegal abortions. Authorities are now investigating further to determine if there are any additional crimes related to this case. Thanaboon will be charged with practicing medicine without a license under the Medical Profession Act of 1982. The police are also expanding their investigation to see if he was involved in other illegal activities. Man Stabbed to Death After Alcohol-Fueled Dispute in Chiang Mai

The incident took place on Lam Khu Wai Bridge, Sri Ping Mueang Road, Soi 3, Chang Klan Subdistrict, Chiang Mai City. The confrontation escalated after Natthawut (last name withheld), 23, allegedly slapped Pornchai (last name withheld), 32, and forced him to buy more alcohol and food. Angered by the disrespect and physical assault, Pornchai retaliated, ultimately chasing down Natthawut and stabbing him multiple times, resulting in his death. Emergency responders from Lanna Rescue Association and Chiang Mai Medical Center arrived at the scene to find Natthawut bleeding heavily from stab wounds under his left armpit. Despite their efforts to revive him, the victim succumbed to his injuries. Local police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Krirkchai Kitti, were called to investigate the incident, which began as a drinking session by the bridge. After the bars closed, Pornchai and another friend, Yutthana (last name withheld), 30, continued drinking at the scene. Around 20:00 Natthawut arrived and confronted the group after seeing his father, Si Saeng (last name withheld), intoxicated and lying by the roadside. An argument ensued, with Natthawut slapping Pornchai and demanding he buy more alcohol. Tensions mounted, and after the victim became intoxicated, Pornchai seized a kitchen knife from his motorcycle and stabbed him. Natthawut fled into the nearby community, but Pornchai pursued him, ultimately catching up and delivering additional blows until the victim collapsed. Local witnesses reported hearing Pornchai threaten anyone who tried to intervene. "If anyone helps, I'll harm them too," he allegedly shouted, leaving residents too afraid to assist. After the assault, Pornchai surrendered to police, stating, "I'm a man—I did it, and I'll take responsibility." Police have arrested Pornchai on charges of intentional murder, while *Yutthana* is being treated as a witness, as he did not participate in the attack. Lieutenant Colonel Krirkchai confirmed the fatal stabbing stemmed from the earlier argument in the drinking circle, with the victim being pursued and beaten to death as he attempted to flee. The clash took place late at night when soldiers intercepted a group of suspected drug traffickers attempting to smuggle a massive cache of narcotics across the border. According to reports from military officials, a patrol unit from the 3207 and 3209 battalions was dispatched to monitor suspected drug smuggling routes along the natural border at Huai Nam Yen village, Mae Ai district. Acting on intelligence reports, the patrol team was tasked with preventing illegal activities in the region, including drug trafficking, under Thailand's strict anti-narcotics laws. Due to the intensity of the nighttime firefight, the military secured the area overnight before proceeding with a full investigation at dawn. Upon inspection, authorities discovered six bodies and 13 backpacks containing an estimated 1,300,000 methamphetamine pills. The military has requested additional support to clear the area and ensure no other members of the smuggling group remain at large. This deadly incident highlights the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in northern Thailand, which shares a porous border with neighboring countries known for drug production. Thai authorities have ramped up efforts to crack down on smugglers using these remote mountainous routes to transport large quantities of drugs into the country.
