At some point in time I'm going to need cataract surgery.  One of the things holding me up is that I need to go off of Doxizosin for BHP which is an alpha-blocker two weeks prior to surgery as alpha-blockers can cause a condition called “intraoperative floppy iris syndrome” or IFIS.  I control BHP with meds but I can't go off of Doxizosin for two weeks without something else to replace it that is not an alpha-blocker.  So I need to try Taffrail.

@Sheryl
Tadalafil is an alternative medicine that can be used for BHP at low dosages (2.5mg to 5mg) but does not affect the eyes during cataract surgery.  So I'm in the market for Tadalafil but not sure if it's OTC in Thailand.

Trial and error, All you can do is walk into the pharmacy and ask, they will either sell it to you or not. You may have to try a number of Pharmacies to buy then OTC.

It is certainly available from many pharmacies OTC.  Your problem may be locating the smaller dosages you are looking for, the regular 20mg is easy to obtain.

5mg is available in larger pharmacies, for example Fascino. Just use a pill cutter if you need 2.5mg.

My experience switching from tamsulosin (alpha-blocker) to tadalafil was not an immediate solution. The urologist said stop tamsulosin and switch to tadalafil. 3 nights later I went back to tamsulosin and made an appointment to see the doc. At that time he said to transition for 6 weeks taking both. Good luck.

By law it requires a prescription, though there are pharmacies which ignore this.

The process of transitioning is nto so simple, and you should in any event do it under urologist supervision.

Hey, I get the challenge with switching meds before cataract surgery. In Thailand, Tadalafil usually requires a prescription, so you might need to visit a local pharmacy or doctor to get it.

Why do you need Cialis for a Cateract problem? I thought it was a weekend pill for sexual enhancement.

See OP. He is on Doxazosin for prostate problem but as this somewhat increases risk of complications during catatact surgery he is thinking of a switch.

Read my original post - it's also an alternative medication that can be used to relax the urinary system so you can pee if you have prostate issues.  Trust me - I have no problems with ED and I really don't want to be walking around with a woody.  So I have no interest in this medication with the exception of getting off alpha-blockers long enough to get my eyes fixed.

The switch will only be long enough to meet the two weeks off of alpha-blockers prior to surgery and then I'll go back on them as they are effective for me personally.
