The town of Mae Sot, in Tak province, has experienced significant flood damage due to consistent heavy rain over the last four days causing the Moei River to burst its banks. This has resulted in a rise in water levels by 1.2 meters, flooding many local villages. Emergency services are working non-stop to aid those affected.

Over time, the escalating rainfall has led to extreme floods that have impacted multiple communities in Mae Sot. The local government in Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict stated that the Moei River's water level, checked at the first Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, exceeds the riverbank by 1.2 meters. Consequently, the rising water has flooded surrounding locations, incorporating a nearby car park and the Rim Moei Market area beneath the bridge.

The lives of many residents have been significantly disrupted as the floodwater has begun to infiltrate their houses and businesses. Emergency teams, including personnel from Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (DDPM) in Mae Sot and local volunteer forces, are helping inhabitants evacuate to safer areas.

Sandbags are being issued to residents in the worst affected regions including Moo 1, Ban Mae Pa Nuea, and the Mae Pa subdistrict, in an attempt to stop more water from invading homes. Local leader Nutthapimol Pakama, has been supervising the sandbag distribution, aimed at fortifying homes against the continuous water flow.

Heavy rain continues across Mae Sot and extends to other nearby regions. The DDPM, in conjunction with local authorities, is ready to aid additional areas if necessary. The primary focus remains on managing the present crisis in Mae Sot and making sure residents receive the support they need.
