An elderly man was seen dragging a dog along a village road in Thailand, prompting a quick response from rescue teams. The man claimed he was taking the injured dog to the vet but couldn’t carry it, so he used a rope to drag it.

The Siam Ruamjai Poo-In Rescue Unit received a report from a concerned citizen who witnessed an elderly man dragging a dog with a rope tied around its neck along a village road. The rescue team immediately went to investigate and offer assistance.

Upon arrival, 26 year old Achiraya recounted that she had driven by and seen the elderly man dragging the dog, which was yelping in pain. Fearing that the situation could escalate as the man was also carrying a hoe, she called the rescue team. The team searched for the dog and found it hiding in some bushes about 10 metres from the concrete road.

The elderly man, 70 year old Sakard approached the rescue unit and explained that the dog, a stray female he called Ja Dang, was usually fed by him. Recently, however, the dog had started to chase and bite people who were exercising in the area, so he decided to leash it to prevent further incidents.

When he found Ja Dang lying motionless by the roadside about 100 metres from his house, with injuries around its genital area and bruises on its body, he decided to take the dog home to care for it.

Lacking assistance and unable to carry the dog on his own, he resorted to using a rope to drag it. Unfortunately, the dog managed to escape during the process, leading to the rescue team’s intervention.

The rescue team agreed to take the dog for medical treatment but required someone to cover the expenses. Achiraya volunteered to pay for the dog’s treatment.

Initial examinations by the vet suggested that the dog might have a genital infection, possibly contracted from another animal, and some of the injuries seemed to be inflicted by a human. The facial injuries were likely caused by being dragged along the road, reported KhaoSod.
