On the night of August 17, at approximately 20:00, police from Bang Thorat Station in Samut Sakhon Province were alerted to a fatal shooting incident at a small hut near the railway tracks in Moo 2, Ban Bo Subdistrict, Mueang District. Responding officers, led by Lieutenant Supachai Metta Mitphong, along with investigative teams, forensic experts, and paramedics, rushed to the scene.

At the scene, authorities discovered the bodies of 62-year-old Ms. Buppha and her 22-year-old daughter, Ms. Arisara (last names withheld). Ms. Buppha was found lying on her back, shot multiple times in the chest, collarbone, left breast, and nose. Ms. Arisara was found face down, having been shot three times in the back of the head. A two-year-old girl, identified as Ms. Buppha's granddaughter, was also injured and rushed to Samut Sakhon Hospital.

Investigators recovered three 9mm shell casings at the scene and began gathering evidence. According to the victims' family, the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation involving two young men. Ms. Buppha's husband, 83-year-old Mr. Boonma, recounted that during the day, while tending to his fishpond behind the hut, he overheard gunshots nearby. One of the shooters, a relative of his wife, claimed to be shooting birds, but Mr. Boonma warned them to leave. Later that evening, tragedy struck when the two men returned and opened fire on the family.

Ms. Juthamas, the older daughter of the deceased, revealed that earlier in the day, her mother had reported the incident to the police after being threatened by the same men. Despite pleas from the suspects’ family to drop the charges, Ms. Buppha refused. Hours later, the suspects allegedly returned and carried out the deadly attack.

Police identified the suspects as two men known as "Gear" and "Palm," whose full names remain unknown. Authorities are actively pursuing them and investigating the motive behind the shooting.

The police have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, while the two-year-old remains in intensive care.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Mother and Daughter

On August 18, police issued an arrest warrant for the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of a mother, aged 62, and her daughter, aged 22, in a small hut in Bang Thorat Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon. A two-year-old child, the granddaughter of the older victim, was also injured by a stray bullet but is now in stable condition.

Earlier today, police officers from Bang Thorat Police Station questioned Boonma (surname withheld), an 83-year-old man who is the husband and father of the deceased victims. He was accompanied by his son-in-law, Suphat (surname withheld), aged 43. The family is in the process of retrieving the bodies from Samut Sakhon Hospital for religious rites at Bang Nam Won Temple.

Investigators believe the gun used in the shooting matches the description of a firearm used for hunting birds. Police from Bang Thorat Station, along with officers from Provincial Police Region 7, are actively pursuing leads and expanding their investigation to determine if others were involved in the murders.

The injured child, who suffered a gunshot wound to the waist, is reportedly out of danger. Following the completion of funeral arrangements for the victims, the child’s aunt will take custody of the little girl, as her parents have separated and she no longer has either parent in her life.

At approximately 14:00 today, Samut Sakhon Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant for Chatchai, also known as Gear (surname withheld), a 33-year-old resident of Tha Chalom Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon. He is facing multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm in public without permission, trespassing with the intent to harm, and premeditated murder. Police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.

Police Officers Hailed for Heroic Effort After Killing of Two Suspects in Intense Shootout

A dramatic video capturing the tense moments of a deadly confrontation between police officers and a notorious suspect, identified as Chatchai, alias “Gear,” has been released by the Bangkok Investigation Division (IDMB). The footage shows the brave efforts of officers in the midst of a violent shootout that ultimately led to the suspect's death. (Video is below)

The incident took place on August 18, when officers from the Samut Sakhon Provincial Police Investigation Unit, Bang Thorat Police Station, and the Region 7 Investigation Team attempted to apprehend Chatchai. The suspect had been wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Court, following his alleged involvement in a serious firearms-related offense.

On August 17, Chatchai was reported to have committed a horrific crime, fatally shooting two women, aged 62 and 22, and severely injuring a 2-year-old girl. The shootings occurred in broad daylight, extending into the evening. The police intensified their efforts to locate and capture him.

Early on the morning of August 18, law enforcement tracked Chatchai to a house in Phrom Buri District, Sing Buri Province. As police moved in to make the arrest, Chatchai violently resisted, opening fire and wounding Police Lieutenant Itthiphan Chainaa, the Deputy Investigation Inspector of the Samut Sakhon Provincial Police. Lt. Itthiphan was shot in the left ankle and above the right knee.

In response, officers returned fire in self-defense, resulting in Chatchai being fatally shot. Two handguns were recovered from the scene.

The video, which was released on the IDMB Facebook page, shows the immediate aftermath of the shooting, with fellow officers rushing to provide first aid to the injured Lt. Itthiphan and calling for an ambulance.
