The smell in our bedroom after she has been eating bitter (stinky) beans.

Not a problem for me. Anything smelly, such as durian, gets eaten outside.

Have you considered putting your foot down?

The problem with stinky beans is the smell that emanates from someone who has consumed them can happen hours after they've been eaten. It's like sleeping with someone who has been eating numerous cloves of raw garlic.

If you are not prepared to put a stop to her eating them, I guess another  option you have is to start eating them yourself.

I can remember some good advice from a foreman, in my first job as a trainee. I had to take samples of fatty acids in the tallow splitting plant, which stank to high heaven. The foreman saw me struggling not to retch.

He told me to come in the next day, without having any breakfast. Walk into the plant, and take half a dozen deep breaths, You'll be OK after that.

He was right, while I could still smell the odor, it never bothered me again.

Hey there little buddy. I realize it's way past your curfew and bedtime (11:25 pm) but now that I've had a handful or two of beers in my system I thought we could continue our disagreement.

Let me start by using your version of the English language:

'Blah blah blah...bim.bah.bim....blah blah blah.......ai...oue...ie...blah blah blah'

Who pays for that?

You?

Yes.

But putting some real effort into decision making that may effect her financial future

after I'm gone,  is kind of more important than a plastic food container in the Big-C.

I put it down to there fatalistic out look on life, the think of today and not tomorrow type of thing.
