On Poor People & Rushing
They lack intelligence so they can only think in the immediate moment. People that are more intelligent can plan 10 steps ahead if not years into future. Dumbass: Do the rushing now. Do it good. Intelligent person: I didn't my work last week. I will grab a coffee on the way. -

Trump: “There Will Be No Third Debate!”
Clearly he understands how tariffs works. But he does not care about consumers who pay double for Chinese EVs. He cares about raising billions in revenue and making Chinese EVs handicapped in the US market. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
I would agree with you... I have been here for over 20 years plus. I lived in the Essan Countryside... it changed how I lived... Get everything done before dark. However, that was only 3 years. Hard learning, I thought I wanted quiet and distance... only to find out that quiet is nice for 2-3 days, and distance...close to a food shop I like a detached house and the next house is about at least 20 feet away. Good Fences apply here. I suppose it is the phases of expat life. However, I would rather live in Thailand than back in my part of the USA..WESTCOAST... Cheers mate -

5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx
@jack343, according to the official Thai e-visa website and the post in this thread I referred to, either an employment certificate or a contract should suffice. I brought both just in case, and they took both documents. Therefore, I can’t assure you that the certificate alone, or the the job offer letter alone in you case, will be sufficient, though it may very well be. As for the contract, it is quite standard, covering aspects such as rights, obligations, proprietary information, warranties, terms of termination, assignment, fees, etc. The most crucial part for them, as far as I understand, is the official signature or/and stamp. You can google for templates or ask ChatGPT to generate one for you (something like this but more detailed). -

Foreign pickup driver flees after crashing into Thai woman in Phuket
"The foreign driver initially came over to check on her but did not offer any help and later fled the scene". Seems a bit like... He asked her if she was alright and she said yes so he went off. Once she had got over the shock of the accident. she then realized she should have got some cash out of the foreigner.- 1

Poll: Who do you think I am?
You can write a coherent paragraph so I would guess the sad loner. Despite the disgusting image of all the Pad Thai teachers, alcoholics and druggies taking all the teaching jobs, real academics are socially awkward. -

Frenchman arrested in Krabi for eight-year visa overstay
To find overstayers, and judge them is up to the authorities. To put them on the radar, should be no rocket science in the digital age. They contribute to nothing. To stay legal is up to us. But nothing else. That's it for me. To have a beer is a good suggestion. Have a nice evening. -

Replacement of new 5 year driving Licences.
Presumably, it can't be much of an issue. An obvious common occurrence in Thailand. Just go to DLT and bring your new DL, together with your old passport and the new passport, and go to the information counter and I'm sure they'll tell you what to do. -

New McCharthyism Sweeping the USA and the World?: What examples have you seen?
In my first post I already stated that’s there’s not an absolute right to say anything, giving the examples of defamatory and threatening speech. I’m certainly not confusing ‘hate speech’ with free speech, as I consider ‘hate speech’ to be one of the more dangerous and pernicious ideas propagated by the woke. Folau wasn’t “imposing” his religious dogma on anyone. He was warning homosexuals, atheists such as myself, and in fact just about everyone else, to repent to save us from hell. Crazy in my view, but as I said before, that’s the kind of speech that is most important to defend. I think anti-vaxxers are crazy, but would never, ever agree with censoring their opinions. You might disagree with someone who states that homosexuality is a sin, or that all religions are ridiculous, or that men who identify as women aren’t really women, but just men pretending to be women, or that men are over-represented in physics and engineering faculties because they’re naturally more interested in those fields, but you have no right to censor the opinions of such people. Speech which really is inciting violence against others is of course a different matter, but that’s definitely not what Folau’s crazy statements were. Actually, under your definition of ‘hate speech’, I’m guilty of inciting hatred against fundamentalist Christians, in calling Folau crazy. -

Trump: “There Will Be No Third Debate!”
Nope. Nobody graduates with a degree in economics without understanding tariffs. The tariffs, paid by the middle class consumers will be used to offset more tax giveaways for the billionaires. It is another Trump fraud. -
