Khmer Man Caught Selling Porn; Claims He Needs Money To Support Thai Wife

Pattaya Immigration police arrested a Khmer man for selling pornographic DVDs and VCDs at various Pattaya beer bars. He claimed he needed the money to support his Thai wife.

On 3 August 2007, at 1:20 AM, Police Major Thanapat Promsuk, from Pattaya Immigration, Chonburi, arrested Mr. Pern Am (22), a Cambodian national, who was selling porn DVDs and VCDs to tourists at bars in the Jomtien Soi 8, Jomtien Beach Road area. Police found evidence of more than 100 DVDs and VCDs. He was charged with entering Thailand illegally and selling pornographic materials.

Mr. Pern Am has been in and out of Thailand for four to five years. He is living with his Thai wife and can speak Thai fluently. He sells pornographic DVDs and VCDs to support his Thai wife. He buys them for sixty baht each and sells them for two to three hundred baht, a piece. He usually goes around selling the obscene material at bars and makes a profit of at least one thousand baht per night

Mr. Pern Am has been arrested and deported many times. However, he still manages to slip back into Thailand and returns to Pattaya to perform the same job. Police arrested him and sent him to Pattaya Investigation for further legal action.

Sounds like he has the route to Pattaya down pat, and he knows how to make a living doing what he is doing. Maybe the police should send both he and his wife back this time or at least move his wife closer to cut down on travel and expense of shipping him home.
