Great idea. I hope this goes ahead, it's an excellent opportunity for Queers for Palestine to show their support and learn more about the state they are supporting.

I’m thinking more of the grunts that would be endangered by having to rescue them.

I would be happy to lead the parade and take the million if the Jews would let me in.

But the IDF has restricted pharmaceutical products getting in, including lube, and it would be terribly painful I would imagine.

The New Tolerance Campaign (NTC), a watchdog organization, has announced it will donate $1 million to any US-based LGBTQ advocacy group willing to host a Pride parade in Gaza or the West Bank. The offer is open to groups like “Queers for Palestine,” which have gained visibility in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, despite homosexuality remaining highly taboo in Palestinian territories. Gay and transgender individuals in Gaza and the West Bank face severe persecution, including acts of violence.

Gregory T. Angelo, president of the NTC and former leader of the Log Cabin Republicans, emphasized that the campaign serves as a wake-up call to those advocating LGBTQ equality in Palestinian regions. "This campaign emerged to call out these purported advocates of LGBT equality and put our money where their mouths are,” he said. Angelo expressed hope that the campaign would either highlight the dangers faced by LGBTQ individuals in Palestinian territories or create an opportunity for peace and pluralism in the region.

NTC has secured the $1 million prize and is publicizing the offer through mobile billboards near locations like Columbia University in New York, the headquarters of the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C., and UCLA in Los Angeles. Angelo noted that the flashy prize was designed to capture attention, but the core objective is to advance equality and human rights. The campaign also allows Americans to send direct messages to senior leadership at organizations like GLAAD and the LGBTQ Task Force, urging them to advocate for LGBTQ rights in Palestinian territories.

Angelo pointed out that in the U.S., anti-Israel protesters often claim that LGBTQ people are mistreated domestically. However, he countered that by stating the U.S. offers significant legal protections, including anti-discrimination laws and nationwide same-sex marriage, which stand in stark contrast to the treatment of LGBTQ individuals in the Palestinian territories. “Contrast that with what you see over in the Palestinian territories where same-sex marriage isn’t something that’s even a possibility or discussed. There are no protections in terms of employment for sexual orientation or gender,” he said.

In 2019, Palestinian Authority police banned LGBTQ events in the West Bank, threatening to arrest anyone participating. Meanwhile, Israel promotes itself as a safe haven for LGBTQ rights, with Tel Aviv celebrated as a top destination for gay and lesbian travelers.

Angelo, who visited the West Bank in 2013, said he was stunned by the difference in human rights between Israel and the Palestinian territories. The NTC describes itself as a group that holds institutions accountable for violating their stated values of tolerance. Through campaigns like this, the organization seeks to confront double standards and promote a consistent commitment to tolerance and human rights.

That they are even talking about it shows that people are getting tired of the intolerant religions. It would be very unsafe though, the zealots have the guns.

He loaded the courts with justices that are now talking about repealing marriage equality. Pay attention.

So just to be clear, he didn't actually do anything then and approximately ZERO gays had to flee to Canada in the same way that hundreds or thousands of gays have to flee to Isreal from Palestine?

So in Trumps America gays can still get married even though he was President for 4 years and didn't actually do anything to take away their rights?   You're saying this is equivalent to Palestine?  If that is the case it's an easy $1m dollars!  When are you going to organise the pride parade?

Not wishing to appear pedantic but   "learn more" implies they already have some knowledge on the subject , when clearly they do not

I stand corrected.

Learn something would have been more accurate. Let's hope they do not acquire such information before they start their parade in Gaza. It will be a nice surprise for them.

Considering the population of Palestine is only 2 million, and most of them are children, that seems a very high number of homosexuals.

Ok lets do some maths.  About half of them are children so lets say 1m for convenience.

About 5-10% of people are gay.  So that's 50,000-100,000.

The only safe place in the middle east for gay people is Isreal.

I'd say "100s or 1000s" seeking refuge in Isreal is a reasonable assumption, wouldn't you?

He did say 100's OR 1000's

He didn't say 100's of 1000's .

About a 1000 , not about 100 000's

Let’s not forget it was illegal in most western countries in our lifetimes also.
Some would argue they never should have legalised it. HIV numbers would have been way down for example.

Yeah, and what exactly is your view?

Except it did not work in Africa where most HIV patients are straight and the spread is being fueled by religious lies about condoms making it worse.

Never going to happen, although I'm sure a few of these annoying activist groups will find a way of getting their hands on a share  of the million dollars.  Just like the climate change protestors they will never consider taking their protests to the actual scene of their perceived injustices,

Preferring to hold their "demonstrations" in the comfort of their liberal home countries  where the only people who's lives will be disrupted are forbidden by law from doing anything about it

There is however one who may take the task on,  Britain's  famous  "mincer"     the outspoken and rather unpleasant gay activist "Peter Tatchell"  an Australian draft dodger who fled to the UK in the seventies and now appears to have reached the  status of "national treasure"

A rather colourful character   ( for one "good with colours")  He has apparently been assaulted 300 times as a result of his "activities" which included two attempted citizens arrests on Robert Mugabe  during which he was beaten unconscious by Mugabe's body guards

More recently his fearless flamboyancy saw him arrested in Qatar where for reasons know only to himself he decided to launch a rather pointless and predictably futile one man demonstration  against anti homo sentiment in the region during the world cup

He would appear to be the man for the Job and it would be worth a million not to have to see his smug face on TV again

You criticize activists for not going to these countries then you criticize Tatchell for doing exactly that.

And mincer is a derogatory term for gays and a homophobic slur.  It says volumes about you that you use the term.
