The woman was later identified as a 30 year old Chinese national named Jing Qu. Upon reviewing her data, officers found that she arrived in Thailand in 2022 and was permitted to stay for only 15 days as a tourist.

However, Jing overstayed her visa by 650 days, nearly two years, while hiding in the luxury condo. When questioned about the overstay, she refused to answer and changed the subject.

Amazing....

1.5 - 8 million RMB each (6 victims) is way more than 8 million Baht. Also, who would pay up to 8 million RMB (over 1 mil USD) to secure a cabin crew job? Nothing adds up in this story.

Nothing adds up for sure, mainly your math 🙂

Care to explain? I didn't do any exact calculations, sure, however even at the lower end: 1.5 mil RMB x 6 = 9 mil RMB (which is over 40 million THB - or as I originally stated "way more than 8 million Baht"). And quoted in the article the top end was 8 mil RMB which is over 1 mil USD (1.13 mil if you want to be precise).
