Popular Post Georgealbert Posted October 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 23, 2024 The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Radio Centre in Pattaya received a report at approximately 01.15 October 23, of a car crash involving an overturned vehicle. The incident occurred on the Laem Bali Hai overpass in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Authorities immediately dispatched rescue volunteers, special operations officers from Pattaya City, and local police to the scene. Upon arrival, officials found a severely damaged blue Honda Brio, license plate from Bangkok, overturned in the middle of the road. The driver, Ms. Phanthip, 29, was heavily intoxicated and sustained minor injuries, including abrasions on her body. When rescue workers asked her if she was hurt, Ms. Phanthip, looking them straight in the eyes, replied, “I’m heartbroken, as I’m confident I was good at driving.” Her unexpected response left the rescue team both embarrassed and amused as they proceeded to administer first aid. When questioned further, Ms. Phanthip, clearly disoriented due to her intoxication, admitted to drinking alcohol. Despite her condition, she insisted that she usually drove well and couldn’t understand how she ended up in the crash. Mr. Noppakhun Songcharoen, a special operations officer in the area, explained that earlier, authorities had noticed Ms. Phanthip stumbling while heavily intoxicated. Concerned for her safety, they offered to escort her in a golf cart and asked how she planned to get home. She informed them she would take public transport, so they felt reassured. Shortly after, however, they received a report of a car crash and were shocked to discover that Ms. Phanthip, who had promised to take public transport, was behind the wheel of the overturned vehicle. Authorities have taken Ms. Phanthip into custody to measure her blood alcohol level and proceed with legal action. Pictures from responders. -- 2024-10-23 1 2

LennyW Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Thais, Men and Women, seem to think it is perfectly okay to try and drive a vehicle when they are hammered, it is just the norm! 1

Plenty of foreigners also consider it the norm to do the same here. Including some AN board members. 1 1 1

'authorities' like the police? The police are easily 'reassured' when work is expected.

Always useful to do the driving when the man has had a few.
