The tragic case of Chris Kaba, a man fatally shot by police in 2022, has become a flashpoint for discussions around race, policing, and justice in the UK. However, rather than waiting for the facts to emerge, many on the political Left rushed to frame Kaba as an innocent victim, distorting the narrative to fit their own agendas. The story of Chris Kaba, a man involved in dangerous activities, is a stark reminder of how preemptive judgments can lead to public misinformation.

 

 

Soon after Kaba’s death, Labour MP Diane Abbott was one of the first to comment publicly. In a September 2022 article for *Morning Star*, a hard-left newspaper, she lamented the "terrible fate of Chris Kaba," claiming that "people can lose their lives even when going about their daily lives." Yet, as subsequent investigations revealed, Kaba wasn’t simply going about his daily routine. He was behind the wheel of an Audi believed to be linked to a recent shooting, and when police ordered him to stop, he rammed the vehicle into a police car, endangering those around him.

Abbott's article went further, highlighting what she saw as media bias: “A campaign for justice for Chris Kaba has already been established and taken important public protests. Millions of viewers on Sky TV especially will have seen the recent demo, although they were initially told it was a memorial walk for the Queen. The mainstream media have an unfortunate habit of erasing inconvenient truths when they have decided what ‘the story’ is, and it is amazing how often it happens to black people.” Ironically, the facts revealed later in court suggest it was Abbott and others on the Left who decided what "the story" was before knowing the full truth.

This truth became clearer after a three-week trial at the Old Bailey, where the police officer who shot Kaba was acquitted of murder. Despite this, figures on the Left continued to champion Kaba as a victim. The Runnymede Trust, a charity focused on racial justice, tweeted “#JusticeForChrisKaba” and denounced what it called “racist state violence.” Similarly, several Labour MPs voiced concerns about the supposed damage to “our communities” and the need to restore their “confidence” in the police, implying that the fault lay with law enforcement rather than with Kaba’s actions.

 

Even more surprising were comments from the Women’s Equality Party, which said, “We are holding Chris Kaba’s family and friends in our hearts today. It is both terrifying and outrageous to hear politicians say the police should be scrutinised less after they kill unarmed members of the public. No justice, no peace.” Yet, this statement was flawed on multiple fronts. Firstly, Kaba was not “unarmed”—by using his car as a weapon to ram other vehicles, he was endangering lives. Secondly, the party’s selective outrage ignored Kaba’s history, including a domestic violence protection order issued against him in April 2022, which banned him from contacting the mother of his unborn child or entering her street.

 

The real question is how so many on the Left managed to construct a narrative of Kaba as an “aspiring architect” and “father-to-be” without considering the broader context of his life and actions. They seemed determined to turn him into a martyr, a British equivalent of George Floyd, without pausing to reflect on who he truly was. It appears that in their haste to signal virtue and draw parallels with other tragic cases, many chose to ignore inconvenient truths about Kaba’s dangerous behavior. In doing so, they risk undermining the credibility of the very causes they seek to champion.

It was hilarious watching James O'Brien listen to Kaba's long list of violent crimes after the verdict. He was so gutted he didn't get his George Floyd moment. I bet he had his rant pre-prepared.

 

The left as always looking for racism where none exists.

 

It's ridiculous that charges were even brought. 

 

One less thug on the streets of London.
