The temple's abbot, Phra Kru Pathom Kunakorn, acted swiftly following the incident. He defrocked Monk Chairat and informed the authorities, while Monk Chatrachai awaits further recovery and will be defrocked upon his discharge from the hospital.

Throw the book at them.

Wonder what's behind the increased popularity of axe in these encounters, used to be just knives and machetes.

Some good axe marketing on TikTok or what

It's the same as with money, it all loses its value in the long run....

Even my gf, who is over 55, complains that there is no one left to provide the monk with food in the morning.

She herself regularly gets up before 5 am to provide for the monk.

The dog in the video was the only one showing any restraint.

He should have peed on all of them and walked away.

Hardly surprising.  Social media leads to a lot being exposed that previously no one would know about.  With monks seen strolling around smoking and using their smart phones, then all the news about drinking, fighting and drug dealing, why would people still want to give them free food and money?  They aren't keeping up their side of the bargain.
