I have a work permit and visa extension for employment at a company I used to own. I have since sold this company and will leave Thailand soon to get the DTV visa.

I am trying to not cause the company to get any fines by leaving without correctly cancelling my Work Permit.

My question is I have a flight booked on the morning on 14th Nov. If I get a letter from my company stating my employment is terminated on 14th.

Can I go to the Labour Department 1-2 days before to get my Work Permit cancelled then not bother going to Immigration to cancel my visa? Because my visa is technically valid until the 14th when I leave as that is when my employment is terminated.

Or if I go to get my Work Permit cancelled on the 12th or 13th will I still legally have to go to Immigration to cancel my Visa and pay for the 1,900 refused extension stamp until I leave on the 14th to avoid overstay?

OK, if your termination letter states the 14th, then go to labour a few days before and cancel your work permit.

Then go to immigration and cancel your extension, it will show as being cancelled on the 14th, so no worries about overstay or new denied extension.

According to STM2 which you signed, you must inform immigration if your circumstances change,(whether on your last day or not).

If you don't cancel your extension, then further down the line when you come to extend your DTV, you could find yourself in for a 20k fine.
