The incident occurred on October 29, when a 12-year-old Cambodian girl, identified as “Net,” died from an electric shock while using her sister’s mobile phone, which was plugged into a charger at the time. The incident took place in Ban Khai District, Rayong Province, while the girl was alone in a small hut where her family lived.

According to the girl’s father, Mr. Neun, 36, he was out working in the rubber plantation nearby when the incident happened. He explained that his daughter had been using the mobile phone while it was charging and had fallen asleep holding the device. Upon finding her unresponsive with her hand tightly gripping the phone, he carried her to a nearby shop to seek help. Rescue workers arrived and transported her to the hospital, but tragically, she had already passed away.

The girl’s elder sister, Ms. Nuch, 17, mentioned that the phone belonged to her and that she did not know her younger sister had taken it. When she found her sister, the charging cable was still connected, and the girl’s breathing was faint, with blood visible at her mouth. It is estimated that she had been in that state for about 20 minutes before anyone discovered her.

Authorities from Ban Khai Police Station are investigating the incident.
