Officials reported at 14.00 on November 2, that an injured elephant, which had been under veterinary care in the Ban Yang area, Moo 6, Nong Yai Subdistrict, Nong Yai District, Chonburi Province, sadly passed away following treatment.

Led by Police Lieutenant Wallop Tattanathanapong, a veterinary team from the Department of National Parks’ Sriracha Office arrived at the location to treat the elephant. Sedation was administered at 11:45, allowing veterinarians to begin treatment for multiple injuries discovered on the elephant’s body. According to the veterinary team, the injuries were not inflicted by humans but were likely the result of a fight within the herd, possibly over a female elephant.

The veterinarians administered medication and saline to the elephant, who had severe inflammation around its tail and rear. After completing the treatment, a monitoring team was set up to observe the elephant’s recovery. Unfortunately, reports soon came in that the elephant had succumbed to its injuries. The veterinary team, along with police officers from Nong Yai Police Station, returned to the site to investigate the cause of death.
