A crash occurred early on the morning of November 2, when a coffee shop employee driving a car in a hurry to get to work, collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death. Police Lieutenant Paraphat Sakornsathian of Rayong City Police received the call at 07:00 and promptly dispatched officers and rescue personnel from the Sawang Porakul Rayong Foundation to the scene near the Rayong Provincial Stadium U-turn on Sukhumvit Road, outbound from Rayong.

At the crash site, officers found a severely damaged blue Honda motorcycle with license plate from Rayong lying in the middle of the road. Nearby, a red Mazda 2 car with license plate from Rayong was positioned diagonally across the road. The front passenger side of the car was heavily damaged, with a broken windshield and a punctured front tyre, due to the impact. Additionally, two parked vehicles, another car and a van, were also damaged as the Mazda lost control and sideswiped them.

The motorcyclist, identified as Mr. Thanawat, 58, was found approximately 10 metres away, having suffered fatal injuries, including a fractured skull, broken arms, and a severely damaged right leg. The driver of the car, Ms. Waree, 35, an employee at a coffee shop about five kilometres from the scene, was transported to Bangkok Rayong Hospital with chest injuries from the impact of the airbag.

Initial police investigations suggest that Ms. Waree, who was reportedly rushing to work, was traveling straight when the accident occurred at a U-turn point. The motorcycle appeared to be slowing down to make a U-turn when the collision happened. Evidence at the scene included skid marks and a long trail indicating that the motorcycle was dragged over 20 metres.

Authorities plan to interview Ms. Waree further once she has recovered and to examine CCTV footage from the area to determine the precise cause of the accident. The investigation will continue as officials seek to follow due legal procedures.
