The Sriracha Sawang Prateep Rescue Radio Centre received a distress call reporting that a young girl’s hand was trapped in the whirlpool drain of a swimming pool within a residential community in Bang Phra Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province.

The Rescue Radio Centre directed an emergency response team, to proceed urgently. Upon arrival, they found a young girl with her right hand firmly trapped in the pool’s suction drain. The situation was critical, as her hand was lodged tightly and could not be easily freed.

The rescue team, along with local firefighting units from Bang Phra, Laem Chabang, and Bang Phra Subdistrict Municipality, coordinated for the requested additional water-pumping equipment to help remove water from the pool to aid in the extraction.

After almost an hour, the rescue team, along with the firefighting units, successfully freed the girl’s hand. However, she appeared weak and fatigued, with bruising and pain in her right arm.

The Sriracha Sawang Prateep Rescue Unit had requested additional medical support at the scene and the Chonburi Command Centre, dispatched the Samitivej Sriracha Hospital’s emergency team to assist alongside the rescue teams to provide initial first aid after her hand was released and then the Samitivej emergency team transported the young girl to Somdej Na Sriracha Hospital for further medical treatment.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
