No one is afraid of the police or the consequences of breaking laws. If it's not 2 NZs wrestling away a cops gun, it's a Thai slapping a cop. Add to that the prevailing thinking that any trouble with the law can be evaded if you pay the right people. Thailand has only themselves to blame.

Fear of the police is my best friend. No way do I want to get in a ruck with the police here, or anywhere. You never know where it might end, or not end.

some of you here try to bash arabs (moved from russian bashing to arab or both)

That's a good policy to live by.

I live in Pratamnak. Surrounded by Russians, with whom I have no problems. Chinese ditto. Not that many Middle Easterners nor Indians, but I always have a natter with the Nepali ex Gurkhas who run a tailoring shop on Jomtien Beach Rd. Friendly and communicative. Always a bright smile and how are you today.

Maybe you live in the ghetto?

Mmmmm ghetto! I served with the Gurkhas twice, great guys. Never had a problem when I worked with Russians and Chinese. However, I served in the Middle East and also worked there as a civilian and 100% stand by my comment. They are the most hateful and aloof people I've met whilst serving and working across three quarters of the world! Ghetto, really...!!!

Well, YMMV as they say.

Thailand open the doors, makes it easy to get a visa.

So all the riffraff comes in.

It could be that Thais will hate all foreigners once.

Another biggoted/racist post! What nasty people on here. Very anti foreigner and coincidently these xenophobe's  seemed to have arrived on thaivisa with the last coup (was very noticable). Why be on this site if you hate us with such venom? And, that is a serious question.  Two men having a slap about, one not even bothering to get off his bike is really a non story. Foreigners tend to fight one on one where as Thais will attack on mass and do not care if the person is over 65 and as long as he/she is a foreigner. Stomping on heads is the normal. Then when two thais start to fight; knifes and guns come out in quick time. The xenophobia in Thai's disgusts me but thankfully not all Thai's are the same. Xenophobs should be careful what they wish for, no foreigners and Thailand would suffer greatly.  Maybe these nasty ignorant people would like a Thailand/North Korea economy?

Funny you should say that. I jokingly suggested a republican v democrats showdown on Pattaya beach as a way of clearing the air. Never happened though. No takers!

Trump was giving Free B js at his local Ktoy bar too busy

The Devil's Lettuce buddy - and no thanks @grubman I won't give it a try, been there done that, I will stick to my big bottles of Leo, that way I won't endanger anyone and I'll get home safely - no fistfights.

I like a beer from time to time as well, but from my experience i have noticed people get more aggressive from alcohol then they do the so called "Devil's Lettuce".

When I'm at home I prefer the Devil's lettuce over a beer, I get better a sleep

But that my preference, But if you have you big bottles of Leo that's good for you,

How do you get home, Drive or Ride ? If you do one of the 2 then you are endangering others. and again that you choice if its the case.

We all like different thing in life, it's our own choices, but for you to assume it was the Devil's Lettuce that caused the 2 tourists to fight in the first place with out any proof was my first reply to you. and i was saying being high dose not cause people to be violent in my opinion, but opinions are like a#%holes we all have one..............

Correction:

It is not the weakness of the laws but rather the intended non-action and intended inability to ENFORCE the law. Your call .......
