I'd love to write what punishment I would exact......but I'm fed up of being suspended.

I do think that a 5000 Baht fine is rather excessive , a 500 Baht fine and a Wai would have been adequate .

Would you torture him or cut some of his body parts off ?

The last place you want to drive a big bike is on the sand, not sure what he was thinking.

He wasn’t thinking as most tourists. Seen a tourist couple drowning a rented motorcycle in flood water taking pictures a couple of weeks ago in cm and subsequently ended up having to push the dead bike other 100+ meters

He also mentioned the absence of warning signs indicating the rule on the beach

If you want a sign for every rule on the beach you'd take 3 hours reading them before getting a foot on the sand.

Will you amend your stereotyping when you discover that  Amir Midhat is an Israeli Arab?

In the Arabic language, Amir means Prince, Rich, or Cultivated and Midhat (the english form of  مدحت) means "praise" or "eulogy"

Read what I said carefully.  The offender is Israeli.

quote from the OP.

"They soon found Mr. Amir Midhat, a 30 year old Israeli national, Mr. Midhat admitted to the act, stating that he was unaware of such restrictions, as there are no similar prohibitions in Israel. He also mentioned the absence of warning signs indicating the rule on the beach.

It may have escaped his attention, but he is in Thailand and NOT Israel. Most people would have enough common sense to ask if such was allowed, before attempting to ride a motorbike on the beach.

I always think ... no, unless a sign says otherwise, however, Patong beach confuses me, there are signs saying no motorbikes on footpath, but guess what, bike parking is on the footpath, you can't gain access unless you ride along it...  ah, what can I say.... Amazing Thailand.
