Spike in American's interest in moving abroad post election -- hot air yet again?

i tell ya want Jing, you and your friends should start up an "Expat Relocation Service" to help DeNiro, Madona, and other Leftie Celebs and city-dwellers make the move.  You could become rich!  Well - other than it really is all hot-air......again.

Who are you telling that too.  Those of us who packed up and moved?  Know your audience before making statements like that.

My point was that everyone who actually accomplished moving out of the country is lucky. Most people have too many complications.

Not sure they actually have, but create for themselves.  Moving is easy, as I've moved to about 5 different USA states while there, and moving to TH was easier than some of those moves, as didn't bring any 'baggage' with me.

Only complication I can see, is leaving children behind, if can't afford repeat visits.

There's also the "complication" of supporting oneself after said move. What percentage of Americans of working age can afford to do it?

I have many LGBTQ friends around the US. They have suffered insults and personal attacks which have skyrocketed over the last few months. More than a few are seriously considering seeking life elsewhere as White Christian Nationalists are now taking over.

If what you say is true, which I think highly unlikely, it could be that people are sick of the trans nonsense.

No doubt now that Trump has been elected, we’ll likely start to see more lynchings by MAGAs like poor Jussie Smollett suffered.

I think we should give take the money Biden used to forgive student loans, and give people grants to repatriate anywhere that will take them.

After exchange but I can not see the baht price going down to 35 baht per plate again.

Fair enough!  Overwhelming majority of American expats in LOS likely agree with you.

CROWD SENTIMENT ANALYSIS 101:

At major junctures the crowd is always wrong!

Now apply to Media take during the recent election.

Then apply to the 2016 election:

(see how deep the conviction of the crowd was when they lafffed at Ann Coulter at 1:48 in the video I posted on Page 1)

Finances would be a given, obviously.  No different than simply moving to/from a red or blue state.  If too stupid to figure out & do the basics, then they aren't moving anywhere, never had intentions to, and just the usually waste of hot air and contributing to MMGW, and should be culled :cheesy:

Speaking as an expat who didn't move based on U.S. politics (I liked the situation at the time I left) we're seeing once again the threats of leaving and verifiable interest in actually doing so.

Rising TREND in American males leaving or yearning to leave the States is in a raging bull-run that started waaaaay before the Trumpster factor.  Made clear in song below as soooo many of my buddies grapple with this

At 1:41 tells the plight of the American male

Most people on TV news have the money to move anywhere they like.

They claimed Trump is going to round them up and imprison them.

Have they listed their homes yet?

Very much different. The same employment opportunities may not exist in another country, there's also language barriers, visas etc.

Surely as leftists the are all really smart and knew all that before the said they were leaving, no?

Or are they like ten year olds telling mom they are going to run away if they have to eat their vegetables?

The fact you don't understand what LGBTQ is and merely cast them all as trans shows extreme ignorance. I honestly don't know ONE trans person.

This really isn't about celebrities. They are a tiny number of people. It's about significant numbers of regular people. My guess is self sorting within the states will dramatically accelerate while politically motivated expatriation will increase modestly. The continuing non politically based expatriatrion based on economic arbitrage by remote workers and retirement  will of course continue as before Trump 2.0.  I do think as boomers age the retirement motivated expatriation will continue to grow.

Do you mean the people that have been fleeing blue state oppression to red states are going to start moving back?

Thailand isn't high on the list of searched destinations.

As far as moving here it will continue to be about retirement, digital nomads, people with Thai relatives or lovers, etc. as opposed to politically motivated moves which may I remind you is the topic here.
