yeah he aint broke.

No, I think he is broke. He's more or less whittled himself down to nothing. Maybe he gets a little bit of money from family every now and again just to keep him barely afloat. He looks too young to be collecting Social Security yet.

Returning to the USA is a ticket to homelessness. You don't just get a job at the airport. You're on the streets of Los Angeles or some other major city sleeping under a bridge. Prices for hotels are through the roof. There's nobody waiting for you with open arms.

And what if your a psychiatrist can you get a job?

Don't be so negative

Not actually 😅. I'm just worried about the guy. Could be any of us with some bad luck.

Being broke in a foreign country is a one-way ticket to hell.

He needs a job, and I don't mean posting begging videos on YouTube.

I agree, when I first came here decades ago many of these types like him would go down to Khao San Road and buy cheap silver jewelry and then fly to Japan. Stay there for a couple weeks selling it on the street to the young Japanese people at huge profits. Then they could flounder around Southeast Asia with the profits for another few months on a shoe string until they would rinse and repeat the same thing again.

I think it's fine to do that when you're in your 20s, but this guy looks to be in his late 40s. He looks like he's running out of time to get his life on track.

I wouldn't waste any time feeling bad for this guy just because he's good at making videos begging for sympathy. The guy is slumming around Southeast Asia when he should be back home with a job.

If you wanna spend your time, feeling bad for people who are in unfortunate situations, then you can worry about all the millions of people whose lives have been recently destroyed by war in the Middle East. That's what I would call bad luck. Not this guy who isn't even trying to better himself.

I dunno I think he deserves some advice from other expats with experience rather then a Freudian analysis. Unfortunately, I can't think of much advice to give him.

One angle could be getting to know other expats and moving in together with other expats having financial problems. Splitting rent and food 4 ways is cheaper then going solo.

Returning to the USA is probably a death sentence if he is on the street. Not just from the weather, it's outright dangerous.

It's all a waste of time. There is no advice to give him and you see that already. He's got first world problems. He's got skills, but he doesn't wanna work. We know that he smokes weed and likes to hang around doing nothing. He may have alcohol and drug problems too. So you're just wasting your time worrying about some guy. Unless he's your friend and you wanna be a saint and go help him then go ahead.

Hows your rant going for you ? You're pretty quick to claim others are ranting and you seem to know how to condense yours  in a short post.

He's really looking forward to one day getting back to Chiang Mai to hang out and smoke weed.

It's good to have a plan in life.

Good point. Maybe he gets high breathing in all the toxic air up there as well.

He couldn’t withdraw from the atm…good grief the lack of foresight, I never travel with less than $4k greenbacks cash in my pocket, to and from the US.

Good point, maybe we should both expand our rants into longer posts. But you seem frustrated and I'm not. So you should easily be able to rant more. You could probably learn a few pointers from Bill Burr:

Good point, but not necessary. I always travel with a bit of cash as a back up, but I also travel with no less than three different cards that can all be used to access money. So if one fails, you got another. And in many countries you don't even need cash anymore. You can pay for most things electronically using a card saved in the digital wallet on your smart phone. Just tap and go.

I do that also. I have two atm cards so if a bank declines at a foreign atm I can use the other card without having to call into the bank.

Otherwise you could get stuck at the airport if you can't get a sim to work or don't have internet.

Also, if an ATM eats or confiscates a card I have a backup.

Maybe you should concentrate on improving yourself and not try project your inadequacy onto others.

You've become frustrated and obsessed. But you do you bro. If you keep stalking me I’ll put you on ignore, along with all the other tossers that started following me around like homeless puppy dogs.
