Foreign Tourists Stir Controversy in Phuket Tuk-Tuk Sex Ride
Picture captured from facebook video. Phuket found itself at the centre of controversy this week after a video of foreign tourists behaving inappropriately on a tuk-tuk was widely shared online. The incident, which occurred on 3 January, was brought to public attention by Facebook user βJao Nuek Get-Ho Laeo Tae Mum Mong,β who posted a 37-second clip of the event alongside the caption: βNo matter how much I told them to stop, they wouldnβt listen. Do as you please, I guess.β According to the post, the tourists had hired the tuk-tuk to take them to their accommodation. However, shortly after boarding, they engaged in intimate behaviour on the backseat, ignoring the driverβs repeated warnings to stop. The video quickly gained traction, attracting a flood of comments from netizens. Some reacted with humour, while others expressed frustration. Comments included: βDriver, keep your eyes on the road! LOL,β βThanks for the live sports entertainment,β βWhat a show! Unbelievable,β and βThey should charge extra for this, apparently, the moving vehicle adds to the experience!β This is not the first time such incidents have been reported in Phuket, particularly in high-traffic tourist areas like Patong Beach in Kathu District. Local residents and Thai tourists alike have noted a recurring pattern of inappropriate behaviour from some foreign visitors in the region. The incident has once again sparked debate about the behaviour of tourists in Phuket and the impact it has on the areaβs reputation. Locals have called for greater awareness and respect from visitors to preserve the islandβs cultural values and maintain harmony between residents and tourists. Day 8: New Year Holiday Road Death Toll Rises to 363
I found this info from the WHO, which is probably as good as any stats on road deaths in Thailand: Thailand ranks ninth out of 175 WHO member countries for road traffic deaths. In 2021, WHO estimates indicated 18,218 road traffic deaths, an average of 50 per day. The most affected were those aged between 15 and 29; and motorcyclists who accounted for 83.8% of all traffic deaths. Assuming an average of 50 deaths a day over the whole year, the 8 dangerous days produced just under the daily average in Thailand. They should make a bigger effort on the other 357 "dangerous days". 1. Bangkok had the most fatalities. Who would have thought this from the biggest population centre in Thailand? 2. Most fatalities are from motorcycles. Another no-brainer in a population with so many. -
