A dramatic car accident unfolded in Bangkok as a Honda Civic hurtled across a road divider, crashing into a utility pole and bursting into flames. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of today, November 19, saw a young man and woman narrowly escaping the blazing vehicle.

Police Lieutenant Investigator Sangansak Chiamsanguanwong from Bueng Kum Police Station received a report of a car fire opposite the Chocolate Ville restaurant on Prasert-Manukitch Road in the Ram Inthra district at 2.48am today.

Firefighters and rescue teams from Bang Chan rushed to the scene to find the Honda Civic engulfed in flames after crashing into the pole. It took them around 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, but not before the vehicle was destroyed, said an eyewitness.

“The car was speeding and lost control before it flew over the median and crashed.”

The eyewitness further described how the car was travelling at high speed before losing control, hitting the pole, and catching fire beneath the engine compartment. Fortunately, Good Samaritans managed to pull the driver and the female passenger from the wreckage just in time, preventing any serious injuries, reported KhaoSod.

Both individuals were transported to Navavej Hospital with minor injuries. Police are waiting for the conditions of the two to improve before interviewing to understand the cause of the fire better.
