Deal with the houthis fast

Featured Replies

One issue at a time.get the  truce deal with Hezbollah done. Wrap up the operation in Gaza.

There is little anyone can do militarily to the Houthis. Much of the country is already in the stone age. Launching missiles will do little and there will be large civilian casualties. The Houthis, like Hezbollah and Hamas locate their  military infrastructure in  schools, hospitals and residential areas.

Focus on Iran. Accept that Iran's leadership may have to be wiped out. Iran tried to assassinate  candidate Trump. It has assassins circulating in the UK, Canada and the EU. It has just been caught trying to assassinate the former minister of justice of Canada. the problem is Iran.

LOL. Typical blather from a military man that apparently only knows force as a solution to problems. Also too thick to understand that every time the west sticks it's nose into Middle East affairs it turns out to be a disaster. Every war the west has foisted onto that region has cost billions in money, thousands of dead and complete failure in the long term for the west, unless fostering hatred was the intention'

IMO the west is the reason the problem exists going back to when the British and French lied to the Arabs about independence following WW1, and has only intensified when the west imposed modern israel on Arab nations.

Strangely, the freedom loving nations of the so called democratic world seem one eyed when it comes to dealing with M E nations and think they can force them to accept some faux world order that favours only the west.

If western nations want to know why the Houthies are making an unwelcome ( to the west ) problem, they only need to look at themselves and the way they have treated the people's of that region.

As I understand it the Egyptian people are against the israelis, regardless of their leader's kowtowing to the US. I doubt they would take it well if the Egyptian government went in on the US side in a war against the Houthis. To the average ME citizen, the enemy is not the Houthis, IMO.

Egypt is a famine ridden death pit without the USA $$ that feeds its population even after all the stealing by the government. They will do as they are told.

Iran is defenseless. I hope the big shots are in bunkers. It wont be long.

Egypt is a confusing mystery!

Not if you look at it from their point of view, which is that the west is killing lots of M E people.

I don't know how much longer the M E governments will take it before they do something about it.

There is already a lot of reconciliation between once enemies. Iran is making friends with the Arab nations, including Saudi. Changes are in the air and it won't be good for western nations, IMO.

Thai well its true the West played its part but so did the wonderful  ME dict sorry rulers that always seemed to go on and on for decades

Iran has had its internal air defences destroyed and its military wings Hamas and Hezbollah have been destroyed and their Allies  Assad and Syria have departed and they can not rely on Russia to help and support them .

A Houthi political official says the group will continue attacking Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians despite the escalating Israeli air strikes in Yemen.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti told the BBC that the Houthis would "escalate our military targeting of Israel" until it stopped what he described as "the genocide in Gaza".

On Thursday, Israeli warplanes struck the international airport in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and ports and power stations on the Red Sea coast, killing at least four people.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that its response to more than a year of missile and drone attacks by the Iran-backed group was "just getting started".

Overnight, the Houthis launched another ballistic missile at Israel, which the Israeli military said was intercepted before it reached Israeli territory.

The UN's secretary general said he was "gravely concerned" by the intensified escalation.

He also called the strikes on the airport and ports "especially alarming" and warned that they posed "grave risks to humanitarian operations" in the war-torn country.

The Houthis, who control north-western Yemen, began attacking Israel and international shipping shortly after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza in October 2023.

Israel has carried out four rounds of air strikes against the Houthis since July in retaliation for the 400 missiles and drones that the Israeli military says have been launched at the country from Yemen, most of which have been shot down.

The US and UK have also carried out air strikes in Yemen in response to the group's attacks on dozens of merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
