Someone stole my fried chicken one time. We out and put the picnic basket down and then went to take a photo of the lake. Just a few meters away. When went back the fried chicken had gone. At first we thought it was a dog but the chicken was under 3 bags of sticky rice.
I have respect for the man. I wish I was as good at theiving. Good for him.
Jomtien beach is very long. I prefer the northern end towards Dongtan beach and the water park, as the beach further south feels pretty isolated, though many might disagree. I’ve stayed at the 4 star ‘Jomtien Palm Beach’ hotel, which has a great pool. Avalon Beach and Welcome World resorts look good, though I’ve not stayed in them. View Talay 5 and 7 are apartment blocks near the beach, avoiding having to cross busy Thappraya road. There’s a large amount of road construction at the moment, just south of the above places. Jan 2025 is of course peak high season, so some places could be booked out.
It appears to be a buprestidae species. Not sure if spraying chemicals will help since the critters are boring under the bark, and if it is a buprestidae species then note its ability to metabolize toxic heavy metals, even living under tree bark soaked with arsenic or lead. The tree became a host for pathogens due to the bole damage, most of the time the tree will recover. Just let it take its course. BTW, what tree species?
