Authorities apprehended 110 migrant workers in a crackdown on illegal immigration at a construction worker camp in Nong Yai District, Chonburi Province. Of those detained, 85 were found to have entered Thailand illegally and will be deported, according to police reports.

The raid, conducted at 13:00 on November 26, by Police Colonel Krit Masuk, Superintendent of Nong Yai Police Station, targeted a camp located in Moo 4, Hang Sung Subdistrict. During document checks at the station, it was discovered that 85 individuals, all Myanmar nationals, lacked proper immigration documents. They were charged with “illegally entering the Kingdom without permission.” Coordination with the Immigration Bureau has been made to arrange their deportation.

The remaining 25 detainees are under further investigation, as they were found in possession of passports. Their immigration status is being verified.

Police Colonel Krit revealed that Nong Yai District, with its growing industrial sector and increasing number of factories, has become a hotspot for illegal migrant labour. This influx has occasionally led to social disturbances, including drinking and disputes among workers.

“To address these issues, we have implemented a strict crackdown policy. This recent operation resulted in the largest arrest to date, with all 110 individuals apprehended having entered the country only two days prior,” he said.

Authorities reaffirm their commitment to managing illegal immigration and ensuring order in the district, particularly as industrial development continues to expand.
