GOP senator takes cautious approach on Kash Patel
 12/01/24 10:44 AM ET

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) took a cautious approach to Kash Patel, President-elect Trump’s nominee to serve as head of the FBI, highlighting his support for current FBI Director Chris Wray.

“I think the president picked a very good man to be the director of the FBI when he did that in his first term,” Rounds told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

Wray was nominated by Trump in 2017 to serve a 10-year term leading the FBI. Trump’s announcement on Saturday indicated he plans to fire Wray and replace him with Patel, a staunch and loyal ally and controversial figure.

“Once again, the president has the right to make nominations, but normally these are for a 10-year term. We’ll see what his process is, and whether he actually makes that nomination,” Rounds said. “

It is both interesting and horrifying to note that while the MAGA faithful are bathing in the limelight of the exaggerated success of Trump's re election they are ignoring the rapidly multiplying instances of global political disintegration which IMHO may be due to a collective perception of both an impending collapse in US hegemony and the ignorance that has enabled it.

Trump seems only committed to a singular personal policy of inflicting retribution enabled by the institution of destructive individuals at the heart of Federal Governance.

For sure the apathetic complacent continuation of the global order is on the brink of change.

You've made that up in your head.

The Democrats are in power. It is them who have presided over the invasion of Crimea, and Ukraine. The horrendous Afghan withdrawal and October 7 mass murder.

I know the Merxist playbook is to blame others for what you are doing yourself, but I can assure you, we know lying idiots when we see them.

So continue to harp on what has been instead of look to what is coming if you so choose.

Do note that I have not denied previous admin. I point to what Trump is to inherit.

Amidst his desired mayhem will his admin cope with the greater reality?

Good luck with that dream.

Once Trump gets back into the saddle again, he will waste no time in fixing some of mess he inherits.  There are things he cannot do unilaterally and will need the help of Congress.

Have you noticed that China has been very quiet lately?  Xi knows  quite well that Trump can inflict a lot of damage to China's already shaky economy.

Tackling the Ukraine/Russia issue is what many, including myself, are concerned about.  The Middle East is another area that needs careful attention.  Iran needs to be neutered, but how to accomplish that is tricky.

While difficult, I believe Tom Homan will get a handle of the border situation and stem the flow of illegals coming into the country.  The threat of punishing tariffs will push Mexico to the table.

Yes, I know tariffs are a double edged sword and Trump will resort to them only if nothing else works.

Time will tell.

Here’s a luscious tidbit

from the source article!

”Speaking on his podcast Patel said, Trump can expose the documents that these folks have written for decades, allowing corrupt activities.

The beauty part of this statement is , its not random hyperbole , Kash has years of experience in government , he knows the ropes! Its all gonna be exposed!

In other news on the "dindunuffin" law front, Joe Biden has pardoned his spawn not only for the 2018 gun/drug felonies he was convicted on, but anything he

“has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024, including but not limited to all offenses charged or prosecuted.”

Shirley, it's merely a coincidence that Hunter began working for Burisma in 2015 and "that bastard" was fired in 2016.

Shirley!

Well, now we know what "10% for the big guy" buys!

oh......ummm...........Trump bad!

Release the long buried files on the assassinations of the 60s and more recently things like the Epstein client list.  Let the chips fall where they may

That has been a big nothing burger hasn't it; Epstein client lists. They have released all sorts of things but waiting for the epic stunning announcements, we have nothing really . Yet it is still being milked as if there is something. Right wingnuts will milk as long as a one halfwit somewhere, believes it could happen. Methinks you should get back to Pedophile Pizza parlors, adrenochrome processing factories and other spew right wing radio & lackeys, ladle out. Now is the time to go full on with BS. Seize this shining moment, kick the factcheckers to the curb.

Good luck on that.

While I think speculating on results of these nominations is a waste of time, the concrete action of nominating these people does deserve addressing. While I disagree with their politics, Rubio and Bondi at least are qualified. But then Trump’s stated purpose is to disrupt …

From The Atlantic Daily, Dec. 1 -
“… He’s chosen a Fox News host with a sordid personal history to lead the Pentagon, an apologist for dictators in Russia and Syria to be the Director of National Intelligence, and an anti-vax, anti-science activist to be the nation’s top health official.
Trump has now added yet another dangerous nomination to this list. In a Saturday night post on his social-media site, Truth Social, he announced that he is nominating Kash Patel to serve as the director of the FBI …
Patel’s nomination is shocking in many ways, not least because the FBI already has a director, Christopher Wray, who Trump appointed to a 10-year term only seven years ago and who he would have to fire almost immediately to make way for Patel. Worse, Patel is a conspiracy theorist even by the standards of MAGA world. Like other senior Trump nominees, his primary qualification for the job appears to be his willingness to do Trump’s bidding without hesitation. Patel will likely face a difficult path to confirmation in the Senate.
For Trump, naming Patel to the post serves several purposes. First, Trump is taking his razor-thin election win as a mandate to rule as he pleases, and Patel is the perfect nominee to prove that he doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. Even knowing what they know, Americans chose to return him to office, and he has taken their decision as a license to do whatever he wants—including giving immense power to someone like Kash Patel.” …

More of the same BS from the left, kinda like Trump doesn’t deserve the rights afforded him through the Constitution!

So you’re pasting from a no link source over the 3 line limit!

and a leftest rag( Atlantic) ta boot!

Leftest rags have lost all credibility!

Chris Wray serves the President , he was chosen on recommendation by Chris Christy. Its not up to bureaucrats

to decide what Presidents should do-with their choice.

Kash is going to do some housework!

Wray was trying to preserve the status Quo

Sorry, I missed it. You reminded folks that the current FBI Director was named by Trump for the ten year term? Again I do not want to speculate on what might happen. Instead I would direct interested folks to listen to Kash himself stating that on day one he would shut the FBI Headquarters down and open it the next day as a museum dedicated to the deep state. Ah yes, and send those 700 bureaucrats out to arrest the bad guys. I'm thinking it reflects his knowledge of what the FBI does. But, hey ... have at it. My source was stated and ... well, there are those who deal in more than sound bites and more involved communication. Deal with me as a retired Professor of History or feel free to but me on ignore.
