Living in Thailand is very cheap?
Most restaurants here / TH, wouldn't survive in the USA. Simply below the standard of even inexpensive restaurants in the USA. If they could pass the health regulations. Along with the employees would get fired, or starve, for lack of tips, if service is anything like provided here in TH's cheap venues. You get what you pay for here. Very few, except higher end, have any type of ambiance that motivates me to stay longer than it takes time to eat. Why we eat so much in house, aside from food quality better at home. We eat out, about 1 meal a week, if that. Really only when we're O&A, and sometimes, it's take away and back at hotel, especially if microwave is available. Why we prefer bungalows with a nice sitting area & view, along with traveling with the dog, as she needs some green area. -

I was absolutely mortified at what I witnessed yesterday.
Easy to come to Thailand with the nugget you made working back home, then pass judgement on how the silly brown people spend their meager wages. I had 2 scooter helmets. One skullcap cost me 2 weeks' salary at 300 baht a day. The full face helmet cost me a months' salary at 300 baht a day. And they weren't top of the line. Just minimally functional. Most Thai people are caught in the middle where there's a need to get around, matched up with wages too low for everyone to afford 4 wheels and a ton of steel. So they haul their kids around on scooters... It's not lack of love. It's economic reality. -

Massage Parlour Visits Turn Fatal: Singaporean Tourist and Thai Singer Die
This is a ridiculous news story to release before an autopsy and the results of the death. And the two stories are barely related. Hundreds of thousands of massages are done everyday. Great way to undermine a major money making industry in Thailand -

14-Year-Old Boy Shot in Front of Mall, Seeks Police Help for Survival
No, in bed by 11pm. At least your alternative wouldn't cause him to be shot in the stomach. I'm not turning my back on reality, having raised and am still raising teenagers I know how difficult control is, my 17 year old son is always on his computer talking with his international friends across several time zones, this means he is talking away until 1 or 2 am despite having school the next day but I set limits and he knows there will be arguments when I catch him, I'm just thankful that at least I know where he is. -

COVID-19 Severity Fades, But Virus Remains, says Dr. Yong
Dr. Yong. File photo courtesy: NNT Professor Yong Poovorawan from Chulalongkorn University delivered an update on the current state of COVID-19, highlighting its evolution over time. While the pandemic has ended this year, the virus continues to persist. Reflecting on the pandemic's journey, Professor Yong pointed out that the initial years saw high mortality rates and the need for stringent responses such as widespread vaccinations. With the development of immunity through vaccines and natural infections, the severity has now significantly reduced. He compared the progression with the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, which initially caused millions of deaths but eventually evolved into a seasonal strain. Similarly, COVID-19 has transitioned from causing widespread pneumonia and filling ICU wards to becoming a more routine respiratory illness. Despite some criticisms that early responses were excessive given the milder current situation, Professor Yong argued that without those measures, the impact, especially in the early years, would have been catastrophic, potentially causing a 1% fatality rate akin to the Spanish flu, reported Naew Na Ultimately, COVID-19 remains with us, albeit in a less threatening form. Its journey underscores the importance of adapting health measures to the evolving threat while recognising that the virus, like many others, is unlikely to disappear entirely. -- 2024-12-09 -

Apart from Thais working in the tourism sector, does anyone actually want Russians here?
Morally they should be on the front-line fighting for their supreme leader instead of cluttering up the pristine beaches of this country.
