A single-story wooden and corrugated iron house in the Nuntawan Village, Pin Klao Ring Road area, Bang Khae district, Bangkok, was engulfed in flames on the night of December 5, leaving one woman dead.

Police from Lak Song Police Station received reports of the fire and rushed to the scene alongside fire trucks from Bang Khae Fire Station, Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, and forensic medics from Siriraj Hospital. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 30 minutes before bringing it under control and prevented it from spreading to neighbouring properties.

The fire destroyed the whole building and tragically, a 48-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Napaporn Prapalongphon, known as “Da,” was found deceased in the remains of the bathroom of the residence.

Mr. Teerawat Chandaeng, a 38-year-old neighbour, recounted the moment. “I was asleep when I heard a loud explosion. I ran out and saw the house completely on fire. I tried calling out for Aunt Da, but there was no response.”

He added that the deceased lived alone and often drank alcohol in the evenings. Earlier that evening, she had been socialising with coworkers near her home.

Investigators from the Lak Song Police Station will coordinate with forensic officers to examine the site and determine the cause of the fire.
