There were indeed significant "scares" and as much as you ridicule public health, the fact that we did not have an epidemic in Europe and North America was because of their collective quick action. You are obviously unaware of the quick access to vaccines for high risk groups, the travel monitoring and the education effort that was undertaken. There were major outbreaks last summer in Canada, USA and the EU. The response was to provide free vaccines to the high risk exposure groups and to educate. It worked.

They are trying to screen for people who are coming from the region where there is a serious deadly disease. What exactly is wrong about that? I am thankful that this is being done. Maybe some arrogant condescending foreigners are not. I also know that they will be the first to run to the hospital when they are infected and expect to be treated right away.
