Georgealbert Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Picture from responders. A pickup truck carrying students, teachers, and parents overturned near Muang Mai Curve in Nong Lu Subdistrict, Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi leaving 11 injured, including four in critical condition. The accident occurred at 18.20 on December 6, as the group traveled to a traditional rice harvest festival in Ban Tilai Pa village. The truck, a blue Toyota 4WD, lost control at the sharp curve and overturned, scattering passengers and belongings across the road. Police from Sangkhlaburi Station were notified and coordinated with local rescue teams to assist at the scene. Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals, with the critically injured requiring transfer to advanced medical facilities. Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicle was carrying one teacher, nine students from Udomsithisuksa School, and two parents. The driver, who sustained minor injuries, claimed the crash occurred because the truck failed to navigate the curve. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and are reviewing potential legal actions. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of transporting groups in rural areas on open pickups, particularly on challenging roads like Muang Mai Curve. -- 2024-12-07 5

edwinchester Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Surprised the moron of a driver didn't say the curve reversed into the pickup. Always an excuse hardly ever an admission of "yes I was going way too fast". 1
Olav Seglem Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 WHERE is the sharp curve ?? Driver tried answer mobile call from wife, maybe ??? 🙂 1

Unless this was a self-driving truck, I don't think this excuse holds much water. Yet another overloaded pickup and a speeding driver, what could possibly go wrong? Exactly this, I guess... 3

And given that many drivers will habitually hog the righthand lane, any misjudgement, no matter how slight and their off into the median. I don't think he needed any assistance from his wife. 1

Sounds more like Brain Failure. Incompetent driver. Overloaded and going to fast to navigate through the Curve. 2

Hmm. You mean it's legal! Of course the roads here have a mind of their own and they challenge the drivers all the time. Those nasty roads should know better.
