A crash occurred on the evening of December 7, when a pickup truck driver, carrying students returning from a sports competition, lost control and veered off the road at a curve near Ban Dong Ta Chan, Taitrung Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province.

The vehicle was transporting middle school students who were a football team, when the female driver failed to navigate the curve, causing the pickup to crash into a roadside ditch, some distance from the road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find widespread devastation. Two students lost their lives in the crash, while over ten others suffered injuries ranging from minor to severe.

Medics and rescue teams worked to stabilise the injured students and transported them to nearby hospitals for treatment. The identities of the deceased students are being withheld until their families can be notified.

Initial investigations revealed that the driver of the truck had a blood alcohol concentration far exceeding the legal limit. Authorities reported that alcohol impairment was a major contributing factor to the crash.

Local police have launched a full investigation into the incident to gather more details and determine if any additional factors, such as vehicle condition or road hazards, played a role in the crash.

This event has raised serious concerns about the safety and accountability of those responsible for transporting students. Community members and officials are calling for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations and oversight of drivers, particularly in cases involving the transportation of children.
