An IT teacher has admitted to fabricating a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of nearly 1,000 people from a prestigious international school in Bangkok. The incident caused widespread panic and a massive police response.

On December 9, at 11:25, Pol. Col. Surapong Putkao, Superintendent of Pravet Police Station, received a report from Mr. Jesada, an IT teacher at the school located on Krungthep Kreetha Road in Thap Chang, Saphan Sung district. Mr. Jesada claimed to have received an email in English threatening to bomb the school. Concerned for the safety of students and staff, he immediately alerted the police.

Authorities, including Bangkok Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom and multiple high-ranking officers, swiftly responded. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, police dogs, and school staff collaborated to inspect the premises. After thorough checks using bomb-detection equipment, no explosive devices or suspicious items were found. By 14:30, the school had safely evacuated approximately 970 students, and the area was declared secure.

Later, investigators summoned Mr. Jesada for further questioning. Under pressure, he admitted to sending the email himself. He confessed that he fabricated the threat out of anger and fear of losing his job after a dispute with the school. He also revealed that he was responsible for the disappearance of IT equipment, including 32 computers and iPads under his care.

The school’s director, Mr. Christopher, confirmed the events and acknowledged the missing equipment. The school administration is considering disciplinary actions against Mr. Jesada, while the police have taken him into custody for filing a false report.

I believe it cost well over a million baht per year to attend this school, you would think they would be very selective as to who they employee.

Might as well just send your kid to one of the free government schools, if this is what you get for your money
