"does not need a repatriation flight"

Why it was necessary to fly back to UK?

Docs often or most are better than in NHS.

Docs often or most are better than in NHS?...Not from what I have seen, with most foreigners returning to their home country when they get seriously ill,     and not only because of costs

Hmmh, and where is the accusation?

But I will enlighten you: I worked for the NHS.....as a Doctor.

Still, no accusation to be seen. Better ask the police. I'm not a lawyer as you know now.

Well there we have it.

The reason his insurance is not paying and the reason why the fluff piece to get sympathy for his gofundme didn’t mention the details of his accident.

That’s a different story!!!!!

Then provideThai doctors are better  if you truly are a doctor, you would have understood my comment.

So, you still do not provide any proof of what you say about thai doctors compared with British doctors... come on mate, you made the comparison.

Yes, you're wrong.

But it does appear he was at fault for the accident.

Quote

Despite insisting faulty brakes were the real culprits behind the crash, McDonald was forced to dig deep into his pockets, shelling out a shocking £700 (31,000 baht) in damage and compensation costs to the other driver.

Scott McDonald was responsible for his scooter accident on Koh Pha Ngan.

This thread is about Andy Davis and his motorcycle accident on an island near Krabi.

Yes, jumping to conclusions based on misinformation or ignorance is sadly a growing trend these days.

I also agree what happened please explain,But now back in the uk after another go fund  job and what about travel insurance for that person or was it rejected the accident claim

Being a passenger on a motorcycle taxi that was involved in a collision with another vehicle where the motorcycle driver was found to be intoxicated notwithstanding, insurance cover for being either the driver or passenger on a motorcycle in Thailand doesn't exist.

I believe that probably covered the on-site triage and the ambulance costs.

For everything else, there's GoFundMe.

The difference is she can get free hospital treatment and does not need a repatriation flight.

No details of why his travel insurance did not cover the costs, but good luck to him anyway.

Possibly didnt have a UK motorcycle license.

said the 33 year old was “significantly better” and feeling “much more positive,” since returning home.

Seriously? One look out the window would do me in. Surely that 20k£ was better spent in Thailand?

Oh well. Good luck young man

He was working, he had  valid insurance, no booze found, he was in  a very bad way with more ops on the way.

Can you please give a link about the accident as you seem to know a lot.

I was also wondering the same question. Bumrungrad Hospital has some of the best doctors and the facility is excellent. Returning to the UK for what? Socialized medical care and year long waits. Not only that, the nurses in the UK are fat and ugly.

In a case like this how much is covered by NHS and how much is covered by him.  An example is that IF I ever went back to candada I have to wait at least 3 months before i can apply for government health care

With emergency cases he will be receiving quick treatment in the UK - all costs will be covered by NHS.

But with non emergency and elective cases the NHS can be horrendous.

For example: My mother was in pain for well over a year waiting for a minor knee Op.

Meanwhile, I'd encountered a similar injury and needed the same type of operation, after seeing the Dr here in Thailand I was operated on the next day (insurance cost about 300,000 baht).
