Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
This appears to have been a very well organised attack, firstly to know exactly when the train would be passing, then to arrange ground operatives to place explosives on the track, stopping the train, and thirdly following it up with HIMARS and Switchblade drone attacks to totally destroy it. Not only is the fuel it carried no longer available for Russian use, but it will take some time to clear and repair the tracks, especially if repair crews also come under attack. The video discusses the possibility that those who placed the ground explosives were partisan fighters, rather than Ukrainian soldiers. If so, then there appears to be a well organised resistance on the ground in Russian occupied territory, in communication with Ukrainian intelligence. -

Swiss Tourist Attacked by Local Youths in Pattaya
Rarely have I read such absolute rubbish as is contained within this thread. Attempts to blame the victim because he must have provoked the youths etc. There is far too little information provided in the report to come to that conclusion. But let's say there was some provocation, most likely something along the lines of asking the kids to move so he could get to his car or to cease sitting on his car, if that's what they were doing? Seeking to justify the actions of the youths or suggesting the victim should have known better are just ridiculous. How many of you, if you returned to your car and found a group of youths sitting on it etc. would walk on by and say nothing? It is again, pure conjecture but its doubtful the kids were doing nothing - if they were, the victim would have just got in his car and driven off. So many of you would do nothing right? Well I for one would not stand by and simply watch such behaviour - even if it meant getting a kicking. Its because we turn a blind eye and more or less accept anti social behaviour in all its forms that we find ourselves plagued by it. When I was a kid we could be awkward or cheeky to older people but an inbuilt form of respect would not allow us to attack them. There is no justification for this attack and neither can there be - coming down hard on today's youth everywhere might bring back the respect that we had way back. -

Recommendations for a laptop
On my fifth ASUS laptop since around 1996. Despite being retired, the previous four were all still working when replaced with a newer model. The latest one is two years old. I only ever needed one warranty repair (new motherboard) that was handled well by ASUS in Bangkok as the laptop was bought in the US and, although having an extended international warranty, the model wasn't marketed in Asia. Took six weeks with a new mobo coming from Taiwan. My office computers all had ASUS mobo's too. However, the new one is a Lenovo ThinkCenter mini which is very good. -

Non-Immigrant O (Spouse/Dependent)
Yes, just stamp. Sorry for wrong information, bit confused with those terms. Bit unfortunate that couldn't obtain it in Laos before they change their policy. But that's okay, think if I knew everything still would go same route. We tried many brunches and almost everywhere said no! Basically saying no and didn't want to look anything after knowing that have stamp. Some listened more but declined as well. Pretty much bad experience and really frustrating. So decided to do with agent. One bank was more willing to help but one thing they could do is to send documents and wait for headquaters to decide (SCB bang chak) -

Cheap drone recommendations
First of all you will need a third party damage insurance and 2 licenses from Thai government offices before you are allowed to use any drone in Thailand. The laws are strict here, if you buy a drone from an authorized dealer here in Thailand you will need to show your passport so that your identity is registered. After that you can start the registration process or you can have serious legal issues. I bought the DJI Neo and I love it. But drones in that price range have limitations. The drone is very light and sensitive to wind movements. There will be an automatic warning about that when flying and it can be blown into the wrong direction and shaking so that it is not possible to film. No memory cards can be used and the in built memory is filled up after a few starts and landings. And battery life is just about 18 minutes and you will find yourself out of battery often. That being said it is advisable to buy the full set with controller and several batteries. But as mentioned I really love the DJI neo if winds are not strong. And you can do short flights without remote by using the phone app instead. Range with the phone app is limited however.
