A simple search of EMF effects may change your mind.

EMF can indeed have harmful effects, BUT absolutely NOT at the miniscule levels that a wi-fi router emits.

Look, I have been a radio amateur for 45 years, and a professional RF engineer for almost as long.  I build and operate equipment with much higher RF levels without any issues.  The wi-fi equipment is but a knat's arse of power.  Go stand in front of a British Telecom backbone microwave relay dish and then you'll experience dangerous levels of EMF 🙂

I think your 'meter' is designed to detect the WIFI frequency, as it's purpose will be to set up WIFI networks.  If it really detected all electro magnetic fields, it would show that your house is an overlapping mass of radiation .... electrical wiring, TV, chargers, phones, fridge motor, AC compressor, microwave oven, your laptop etc etc.

EMF sensitivity is an issue for those with underlying, often undiagnosed health issues. Most people have complete tolerance but some can be sensitive and affected in a myriad of ways. This is one of many areas where technology and health intersect where there just hasn't been that much research and the science is far from settled.

You could go into your router settings and turn off WiFi, and then run a closed network by connecting PC, TV, Android Box etc with ethernet cables, but if you are in an urban area, look at your phone under WiFi and you will most likely see easily a dozen or more WiFi signals from neighboring properties.  They will be on different channels also.

There's no way to escape the waves, unless you live rural.
