so.... solar is king during daylight hours after all 👍   as long as  you use parabolic mirrors to focus enough sunlight to produce the temps required for baking bread

Yeah the baker can use solar if he does not like chopping firewood... thats a given but not the basis of your of your original drivel.

Parabolic mirrors are not needed for a solar oven.

Not my sick Buffalos.

Wonder if there are any sick Buffalos left in Thailand?

Must be hundreds of fixed ones.

Good point.

And if you want to meet people who can survive without power, look at the peasants here.

The 80 Baht electricity bill is for some tubes and maybe watch TV before going to bed a 8 PM.

The tubes and TV can be omitted.

Think of the condo owner with his panoramic ocean view from the 31st floor.

Will he be fit enough to walk down not to speak of walking up.

That should keep, him/her/it fit, and all one would need is a fishing rod.  Catch a few extra to barter with.  Desalinizing water is easy enough.  We have bout 17k liters of rain water at end of rainy season, since last week's rains, more forecast.   100 liters a day, for 170 days, till rains start again, mid May (5 months / 150days).

In the great storms of the 1980s deep snow & ice brought down many power lines, we had no electricity for 3 weeks, cooking heating by fire wood & coal. We kept milking and feeding the 110 cows,

Milking using a generator powered by tractor, the 300 sheep fed with hay as the snow was to deep for them to find grass,

We had no mobile phones then,

And I didnt play jet set willy on my ZX spectrum for 3 weeks,

StarLink  ...   OK, not here yet, but neither is the 'end of days' :cheesy:

No internet ... just imagine, people would actually interact in person.  Racism and prejudice would be gone, as no MSM to divide the masses.

Towards the end of 1999 a delivery was being made to my company.  The truck driver says, "Ron, look at this.  It's going to someones house."  It was 3 full pallets of freeze dried food.  I told him, "Someones going to wake up Jan 1st and realise they have to eat all of that."

I was more thinking about the internet, considering how much we depend on it for everything. Imagine Immigration without their computers. Clerks in stores would have no idea how much stock they have.

People willnot be able to buy things because they won't remember how to use cash. But then again, how do you get the cash if the ATM is down

Only fresh / wet markets would exist, if that, in rural areas, and payment by barter system, as money wouldn't be available for many.  No refrigeration, limited transport, as no electric pumping at petrol stations.  Chain supermarkets would close ... after being ransacked.

By the time they could get enough diesel generators to areas, mayhem would have already taken over, and those with firearms would  control the turf / zones.

Zombie movies (fear living dead) would be realities ... :w00t:

New prepper thinking ... need a sailboat, with solar, and fishing gear ... we're out of here :cheesy:

Oh yea, w/bow mounted 50 cal, and a few M72 LAWs  😎

There is always power. It just depends on how it is produced.

How many diesel generators would an average "server" need to remain functional?
