Recent reports of drone sightings in New Jersey and other areas have caught my attention. Witnesses describe drones flying in coordinated patterns for hours at night, sometimes with lights off and evading typical detection methods like heat sensors. Authorities haven’t been able to identify the operators or their origin, leaving plenty of room for speculation.

Some explanations point to possible misidentifications, suggesting that many of these “drones” might actually be manned aircraft or hobbyist drones. But others believe there could be something more mysterious at play, with theories ranging from espionage by foreign nations like China to experimental military technology or even extraterrestrial involvement. Officials have largely dismissed these claims, though they’ve acknowledged the need for better monitoring and transparency.

It’s hard to ignore how unusual this situation is. Why are so many sightings going unexplained? Are we dealing with advanced technology, or is this just a case of overactive imaginations?

What do you think is going on here?

Occam’s razor, deduce to the obvious. The flying objects are searching for something. Drones have no purpose to fly in the dark unless they are looking for a person or something. Can definitely rule out foreign adversaries. Possibly a nuclear device and the delayed reaction of the current administration is in panic mode.

If he's right, the gub'ment is flying them at night and not acknowledging their actions, to avoid panicking the public.

That sounds about right

But large numbers of similar drones are also being seen, at night, over UK locations, specifically the US air force base at Mildenhall.

Why only at night ? I have not yet seen a report of these things operating in the daytime  ?

Hard to believe, with all the sophisticated equipment and manpower the US forces and intelligence services possess......that they have no clue what these 'drones' are.......very odd.

So far, I'm only finding it on "unapproved sources".

That's a little more relaxed in this section.

Thanks for the heads up, but I'd prefer to allow anyone interested to do their own Googling.  Since it's blocked here where I'm staying, they may find more than I have found using Bing.

To be clear, I'm a big fan of the wingnut conspiracy genre, but I haven't formed an opinion on Ferguson's "educated guess".  But it's the most plausible one that I've found so far.

Because they might be more easily identified in the day time?

Because they can't (easily) see what they want to see in daylight?

So as not to scare people? I rate this a low possibility since they are just as easily seen at night.

"What do you think is going on here?"

The airborne equivalent of illegal raves or Thai MC street meets, swiftly followed by the media and netizen hysteria that the participating delinquents sought to achieve....... "cool".

West Cornwell too, apparently...

Are any other countries reporting similar or is it just UK and USA? If not, it would point at Russia and the Ukraine.

The White House says:

He gave some clarification, however, as to why all of this seemed to be happening all of a sudden.

'In September of 2023, the Federal Aviation Administration, the FAA, changed the rules so that drones could fly at night,' Mayorkas said.

'And that may be one of the reasons why now people are seeing more drones than they did before, especially from dawn to dusk.'

If it is at night, they are not showing lights, and evading heat sensors, umh, how are the witnesses able to see them?

I was abducted once. They did things to me.

So was I. Terrifying. I was sitting quietly in a bar, reading a scriptural text, when there was a blinding flash of light and I was struck drunk. A young alien, ( oddly enough she spoke Akha) carried me off. I would rather not describe the things she did to me, brings back memories which require me to lay down in a darkened room. Her name is "Min", and I still meet up with her a couple of times a month - purely platonic of course, it stops her turning her wicked attention to other innocents abroad!

"Min, Min, have you put the cat out?"

"Why, was it on fire?"

With compliments to the Goon Show!

Drones can be flown at night. They’re very quiet when hundreds of feet above, and can be flown up to 7 miles away with video because all drones use stationary satellites for navigation. Why is it hard to believe that board copycat people are flying drones at night?

For the Donald not to have a say tells me all is not as it seems.

This all reminds me of the UFO craze in the mid-70s. There were so many reports it sounded like America was being invaded. The TV series was a bit of fun though.

Do you think any alien would like to visit Donald and his gangster gang?😂

Obviously, one of the following…

1. The Chinese have small drones that can fly across the Pacific using sophisticated technology.

2. Aliens with the technology to fly faster than light and remain invisible are using propeller driven drones to fulfill their devious plans to map every MacDonalds on Earth.

3. American military has received permission to fly experimental test flights over populated areas while hoping they don't crash and kill anyone.

Something very unusual, and whatever it is appears to be spreading to other spots in the US and the globe. In fact it appears to have first manifested around several US bases in the UK. Right now in NJ there appears to be a mix of unexplained drones/UAPs, legit (likely US military/govt) drones and conventional aircraft playing with one another. My gut feel is there is something to worry about going on, perhaps something potentially quite devastating or sinister. Despite the potential downside I find the whole thing fascinating. Loved the temporary closure of Wright-Patterson AFB air space within 24 hours of official US govt statements that there was "nothing to see here".

U.S. — Recent drone sightings across the United States are apparently nothing more than an elaborate gender reveal, Pentagon officials announced Monday. The revelation came as the lights in the sky thought to be Iranian spy drones or possibly UFOs from a galaxy far far away, suddenly formed to spell the sentence "IT'S A BOY!" "We realized it was part of an elaborate gender reveal party when the first satellite images came in," White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said. "Apparently, it's a boy. And, congrats to the happy couple."

Occam's razor means that the simplest explanation that meets the known facts, is likely to be the correct one.

There is no current evidence that these drones are searching for anything.

Meanwhile, the simplest explanation I'm aware of (and various journalists have pointed this out) is that the vast majority of the sightings represent commercial, hobbyist and law enforcement drones, civilian aviation (helicopters and planes) or even gas station lights and constellations.
