The Royal Thai Navy’s Second Area Command (Sornchon Region 2) received an urgent report at 08.20 on December15, from Mr. Krit Pitakkumpol regarding the disappearance of a fishing vessel’s VMS (Vessel Monitoring System) signal.

The vessel, A. Krit 11, registration number 282331552 and marked TM 504A, with a gross tonnage of 49.37, was last detected at coordinates Lat. 7°16.26’N and Long. 101°19.7’E, approximately 41.5 nautical miles east of the Songkhla estuary buoy.

At 10:10 Sornchon was further informed by the Songkhla maritime centre and the vessel Sin Siree 3 that A. Krit 11 had capsized around 05:00. Immediate requests for assistance were issued to nearby vessels to search for the crew, but initial efforts yielded no results.

In response, Sornchon Region 2 dispatched aircraft and ships under its command to conduct search and rescue operations. A Type-1 patrol aircraft located four crew members adrift at sea and coordinated with Helicopter Unit 4 to rescue them and transport them safely to the Songkhla Naval Base.

Shortly thereafter, the aircraft identified another survivor, who was subsequently rescued by helicopter and also brought to safety.

Two crew members remain missing. Sornchon Region 2 continues its search efforts in the search to locate them.

Sornchon emphasized its role as a key regional agency for the protection of maritime national interests, ensuring security, prosperity, and sustainability for the nation and its people.

Why are the crev members eyes covered on the photo?

The picture was supplied by the RTN and they choose to hide the casualties ID, probably because there are still persons missing.
