Lived here for more than a decade and mostly happily so. But this one thing seriously annoys the hell out of me.

Why does everyone feel like they can just walk into your property?

There is a door bell. You can ring it.

There is a door. You can knock.

You have a voice. You can ask before you enter.

But most people just don't give a damn and just walk  right in, as if they owned the damn place.

What the hell is up with that?! I am seriously asking. What are they thinking? It must be some cultural thing? But what on earth is the thinking behind it?

It would never even occur to me to do this to someone else.

1.  Who are these people walking in?  Neighbors, total strangers, Thai post, family members, wife’s or GF  relatives?

2.  Does your door have locks?

1. Neighbors, housekeepers, repairmen, friends, many different people

2. Yes, sure, but it feels silly to have to lock your door while you're at home. Also difficult to handle with kids as they go in and out a lot.

And to be clear, I mean INTO THE HOUSE. Not into the yard or lawn or driveway.

They walk right into the living room.

We have a dog who just the way he look, nobody comes without calling first. The other dog is in his kennel during to day, and released in the evening, so no surprises here at the doorstep.

So you have no fence, gate or a lock? Seems the problem is yours alone.

Do you have any evidence that they are thinking?

qed

I have given up, and also given up everything I have made to make things easier, ans as well the routines I established at the farm. They will not adopt or change "their way" of doing things. Even 2 hours works takes my way, takes them a whole day if lucky.

Can you speak Thai?

They probably just ignore you if not.

Yes. Our household is purely Thai spoken.

No they don't, but they may do in your bar hang-outs.......

But, we know you don't speak Thai, only been here a few months, your flip-flops may get you ignored though.....😬

Get an angry dog or grow a set and bark at them yourself

All that is needed is 2 words   F##k Off  used with a bit of anger works well

And obviously you see the same wall, just the other side of it. Do you like that view?

I understand that you want to set your rules. But is living in a bunker not a little restrictive?

That's the front, which has no view, and a bit too much traffic.  Besides i need the privacy, since not a big fan of wearing clothes.

Back yard sloped down a wee bit, and a view, sort of, other side of the seasonal stream.

Plenty of areas to sit, all without annoying in-laws or unwanted neighbors popping in at a whim 😎

No dog when living there ... :cheesy:

Actually the wall was a plus, when sitting on front porch ...

... and people love leaving doors open, and would hate to have our peacock get run over 🙄
