Anyone taking Creatine as a health supplement for muscle gain?

Featured Replies

I started taking Creatine a few months ago. For years now I walk fast once or twice a day and do some resistance exercises including push ups, sit ups, bench press and arm curls. No time to do a lot of this but try to fit in 30min a day at least. Sometimes up to 45min/ 1 hour.

Since taking Creatine Ive noticed higher energy levels and my upper body looks more firm/ bigger. Im impressed with this supplement and after hearing a neurologist on the Diary of a CEO talk about it, I thought I would try it. She suggested it could be helpful for brain health also but the data is limited.

If you have been taking it for a while could you let us know what your thoughts are? Any side effects ie hair loss or anything else. I know guys who take Testosterone juice and their balls are shrinking....

Interested to hear any opinions from people actually taking this supplement.

thanks

Probabluy one of the MOST tested and talked about supplements out there.

Lots of myths too.

Personally, I think it works well, I take it after resistance training and have done so for a long time. It draws water into the muscles, hence the more definition. This in turn helps with muscle recovery, etc.

The more recent claims on brain health, especially as you age

"Some studies suggest that creatine may have neuroprotective effects, potentially reducing oxidative stress and supporting cellular repair mechanisms, which can be beneficial in conditions like neurodegenerative diseases." (chatgpt)

I started within the last year taking Creatine.   Not so much for muscle gain, but atrophy.  As mentioned above, I take it more for brain health than muscles loss.  A couple current studies showed good stuff.

Where u getting the good stuff from ?

Pharmaceutical grade powder

I got mine from iHerb, since all new to me, wanted to make sure I got authentic.  Now I know what to look for, if I get a fake.

I dont understand your comment.

My hair started thinning a lot after a few months on it. Have read hundreds of comments about this on other youtube videos. Anecdotal but they cant all be fake comments. I stopped taking it for that reason.

Thought my comment was self explanatory.   Maybe those people were taking too much, and or, their diet didn't even need supplementing.   Only been taking it just over 6 months.   Seems AI disagrees with those stating hair thinning, and maybe just their age, and coincidental.

I have used it previously and liked it. My doctor told me to immediately stop after a blood test flagged me as having kidney issues. It is expected to have increased creatinine levels when using this supplement as a false positive for kidney problems. My doctor did however not agree. After stopping creatinine the blood level went down but is still  slightly higher than before. This might have other reasons but to be safe I do not use creatinine anymore.
