Yes indeed, and it goes back to the early years of World War 2 when the German Nazis attacked Poland. Many refugees and soldiers escaped to England. Ref. (Google). Since those days, there are now several generations of ethnic Poles throughout the UK.
Polish Resettlement Act (1947) This Act was the first time the government had passed a law to settle such a large number of migrants – over 150,000 Polish people ended up in the UK in those early post-war years through this scheme.
