I have been buying CATphonenet cards from NT

Is there a better way?

I am not asking about making free calls on Line etc... these are usually one time calls to businesses....

Thanks.

At 1 baht/minute I'm not sure you can do better?

OK, Google Voice is free, and people in the U.S. can call you. And you can receive OTP SMSes.

I have a phone on Consumer Cellular service.

Not roaming, I can call and receive voice and text calls from US phone numbers.

I pay 15 - 25 USD per month for this varies with number of calls.

I don't use for anything else but call/receive from US numbers.

I tested it with my Thai phone and it can receive calls and texts from a Thai number as well,

but I don't use it for this except for OTP codes for CCs etc.

You can get the same for $3 /month with UltraMobile PAYG, includes 100 minutes, 100 SMSes and WiFi calling.

I will check that out, I need a US number and I have never figured out a better way.

I will check out UltraMobile PAYG.

Thanks.

Are you on a grandfathered rate at UltraMobile?

Looking on their website I see the lowest rate as $15/month.

I call infrequently... and sometimes not for months...

Do you need the calls to come from a US phone number, or receive calls and texts?

SIM needs to be activated in the U.S.

So must of us have it mailed to a family/friend for activation and onward remaining to us in Thailand.

Once you have a U.S. mobile number you can register for GoogleVoice.

That violates my definition of easy.

I pay $10/month for a dedicated unlimited usa skype #  that calls any phone in America any time.  Had it for over 4 years. Voice quality great 95% of time. Just a  normal call for anybody there to you.

Can't send sms or do video call though except if the receiver has skype, even free version.

I use mine as you want, mostly business, bank etc.

Good luck.PM me for details if you want.

I use Talk360. It’s a Dutch VoIP service and it’s only possible to use its app for calls (in any country), but not to receive calls or SMS.

The receiver will see your US phone number as the caller.

Calls are charged $0.05 per minute (but charges may differ depending on the number you call, mobile or fix-line).

I recharge my account when needed and Thai credit/debit cards are accepted.
