An elderly man lost his life after falling into a bamboo grove near Lam Phaniang, close to the Jombueng-Sang Sian Road in Nong Bua Tai Subdistrict, Si Bun Rueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province.

Rescue teams from Nong Bua Tai responded to an emergency call on December 23, and arrived at the scene equipped with cutting tools. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a 76-year-old man trapped within the dense bamboo. Efforts to extricate him were successful after about 30 minutes, but it was confirmed that he had passed away before assistance arrived.

According to the victim’s daughter, her father often stayed in the rice fields and received meals delivered by family members twice a day. When she arrived in the evening and failed to find him, she began searching the area. She stumbled upon his boots near the bamboo grove and was horrified to discover his legs protruding from the top of a cluster of bamboo and her father face down, trapped in the middle of the thick bamboo.

It is suspected that the victim had climbed the bamboo to cut it when he slipped and became wedged between the stalks, leading to his untimely death.

The deceased, a resident of Jombueng Pattana Village in Nong Bua Tai Subdistrict, was well-known in the community and his death has shocked the community.

oh dear Georgealbert,    it's always sad when a working person loses their life through an accident.   Not sure what actually killed him ... was it being stuck upside down for hours or lose of oxygen so he couldn't breath.

rip bamboo guy.
