A fire engulfed a carport in Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district, destroying nine vehicles and causing damage estimated in the millions of baht.

Police from Ban Na Wang patrol unit, under Bang Lamung Police Station, received a report during the morning of December 24, of a fire at 19/13, Ban Sang Krapriew, Moo 1, near the Mak Mai housing estate in Takhian Tia subdistrict. Officers coordinated with local municipal disaster prevention and mitigation teams, as well as emergency rescue units and fire trucks, to respond to the blaze.

Upon arrival at the scene, located within the grounds of a large residence, firefighters found flames fiercely consuming the carport. Emergency crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire. However, by the time the blaze was under control, significant damage had already been done.

Inside the carport, two cars, three motorcycles, and four expensive racing bicycles had been completely destroyed by the flames. Preliminary estimates place the value of the damage at several million baht.

The homeowner, Mr Phongsiri Lekpong, 55, expressed his shock and sorrow over the incident. “No one was at home at the time of the fire. Everyone was at work when a neighbour called to inform me that my house was on fire. I rushed back immediately,” he said. He added “None of the vehicles were electric and I have not idea how such a fire could happen.”

The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities are awaiting the results of an investigation by forensic experts to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Mr Phongsiri stated that the loss was devastating, but he would cooperate fully with investigators to ensure such incidents can be prevented in the future.

Try not to get facts in the way of your agenda!

Sad, but at least his house is still standing.
