(CNN) A newborn baby froze to death in a tent encampment in Al-Mawasi, in southern Gaza, on Wednesday, highlighting the stark challenges to survival faced by Palestinian children displaced from their homes amid Israel’s ongoing assault on the strip.

Sela Mahmoud Al-Fasih “froze to death from the extreme cold” in Al-Mawasi, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, the director general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, posted on X on Wednesday.

In the past 48 hours, Al-Fasih and at least two other infants – a three-day-old and a one-month-old – have died from low temperatures and a lack of access to warm shelter, Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra, the head of pediatrics and obstetrics at Nasser Hospital, in Khan Younis, told CNN.

Expect more. Tents made out of plastic don't protect against cold.

The heavy rains are estimated to affect over 1.6 million people living in makeshift shelters across the Gaza Strip, with thousands of displaced families living in tents along the coast in southwest Gaza being particularly affected by flooding and rising seawater. According to preliminary assessments, about 7,000 families residing along the shoreline were affected by recent rains, with thousands of tents flooded, belongings destroyed and shelters damaged.

"In the past 48 hours...at least two have died from low temperatures and a lack of access to warm shelter"

It's the Palestinian leadership that are denying them access to shelter.  No one is freezing in Qatar or in the tunnels of Gaza.  They value the lives of foreign hostages more than their Palestinian infants.  That seems to be the only point on which the Palestinian leadership agrees with the Israeli leadership.

If so, if.

These would be casualties from the actions of Hamas.

And this information is not directed to Hamas, simply because Hamas really does not care at all about casualties resulting from their doings...

"Hate" governs so many of the actions in that part of the world. And hate does not have room for other emotions...

The only way to resolve this conflict, is by the elimination of "hate".

Starting by Hamas, then undoing all the brainwashing that has tainted the culture in that part of the world, starting by modifying what is taught to children..

In theory you are right but dream on.  I have another solution in mind.

Has the World grown tired of the  Palestinians claims ?

Are they now crying "Wolf" ?

Or has interest in their cause naturally waned and people have moved onto other issues ?

"Babies freezing to death you say" , Oh right

Minimum temperature in Gaza is around 8 degrees C, which is well above freezing, so it surprises me that an infant can freeze to death. The parent used body heat to warm the child, so maybe the cold was not the full cause.

One of the most ignorant posts I've read in a long (OK short) time.   A little education goes a long way, about external temps and the human body, especially if not getting the nutrients to produce a bit of energy/heat for the body.  Especially if not having the proper clothing to maintain that body heat.

Exposure to the elements are deadly ...

I assume that the child was clothed, and the parent stated that they used their own body heat to keep the baby warm. It seems reasonable to think that there may have been other issues especially as so many other children have survived the chilly weather.
