Success with Runner Beans - At last!
After three years of trying I’ve finally got runner beans to crop in Thailand. The first year things were looking hopeful but an unplanned business trip ended those hopes. Last year high temperatures during winter caused all the flowers to drop. This year things have gone much better. I have so far harvested about a kilogram of beans from 6 plants, with more on the way. Not a massive harvest but at least I’ll get some of my favorite beans and will try a bigger crop next year. The change I made to get this improvement was to plant seeds directly to no dig beds with 3 inches of compost cover, at a location where they only get morning sun. I also delayed sowing until Loy Kratong. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
And they certainly don't have the resources -- nor would a cost/benefit analysis ever give them the resources -- to query every expat. Best they can do is, have random compliance audits, based on: expats here for over 180 days, and who have remittances exceeding some high amount. This they could probably do with relatively simple data mining of immigration and banks. And, I wouldn't even hold my breath for this scenario. Self-assess with integrity -- and don't worry about your golf game being interupted by the TRD. Relax. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
You don't need to be anywhere near that cunning/complex. Remittance taxation is a joke. You can buy any asset from the proceeds of the IRA sale and then resell at cost, immediately, no need to wait a year, remit the proceeds, non-assessable/exempt. Wait, even better idea, straight from the mouths of the TRD, WATCHES are not taxable. ( you saw the video!) So, sell your $10K IRA, buy a $10K watch, sell the watch for $10K ( even $9.5k, take the hit) , remit, non-assessable/exempt!- 1

Bangkok's Free Transport Initiative Sparks Criticism Amidst Haze Crisis
What a great idea, offer free rides instead of policing gross polluters like all those tricked-out minitrucks that bellow out 5 pounds of soot every time they step on the gas. Or stopping people from burning their trash on the side of the roadways. Or doing proper maintenance on all the buses, city trucks, and big rigs. Yup o, the free rid will solve everything... -

Bangkok's Free Transport Initiative Sparks Criticism Amidst Haze Crisis
Huge cues ? Must be all those snooker and billiards players being encouraged to travel by MRT.
