In a coordinated operation, the Pattaya Tourist Police, Chonburi Immigration Bureau, and Chonburi Social Development and Human Security Office arrested 20 foreign women suspected of engaging in prostitution along Pattaya Beach.

Good heavens above what were they thinking, everyone knows prostitution in Pattaya will not be tolerated as it undermines the image of a family friendly resort.

I could see the tremendous overweight on the majority as well as written age up to 51 and also the body language when sitting on the rest. But, as I understand, you will settle with a lazy hippo-sized with no style as long as the face is pretty. We all make our choices in life.

What kind of sick image of women do you have:coffee1:

Translated, what he means is, "I will not have sex with a woman I'm buying unless she is pretty and slim. I do have my standards you know."

My 8 year old Thai granddaughter knows  Da licky mai chaawp uaan!

With a explanation of its not healthy to be overweight , she’ll have a better chance of surviving in Thailand.

Stay slim ladies!

It’s been going on in front of their police station for years and they only seem to crack down when it’s Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Then back to ignoring them. Maybe the local beach hookers were losing business. They aren’t so pretty either and many are well past their prime or drugged up. That’s why they are doing street work for discounted prices, not the bars.

I suppose if you are paying for it it's not a bad rule to have.

complaints from local residents and tourists about scantily clad women occupying areas under trees along the beach

During initial questioning, all 20 women admitted to arriving in Pattaya to work as sex workers catering to foreign clients. Authorities charged them under Section 5 of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act, B.E. 2539 (1996), which prohibits public solicitation for prostitution in a manner deemed open, shameful, or disturbing to the public.

Bottom line is..

They are not on the RTP payroll.

Not in the book.

C'mon let's get serious.

Almost everyone pays.

Bike taxis.

Gold shops.(protection)

Flower sellers at traffic lights.

Almost every bar.

Soi 6 is the jewel in the crow.

They should test them all for HIV on the way out just for research data purposes, but I doubt they will do that. I bet that the authorities don't really want to know.

On the other hand, you can't just use statistical data to make any assumptions. Many of them may have HIV or maybe they don't. That's why it would be good to test them all.

Beach rd is a thai haunt to sell themselves ,a few farangs try but maybe they are told to move on.You see alot more foreigners there and bkk trying to get business too.A small fine but for the farang passport check and maybe worse. The thais want to protect home grown talent first

I think that's great! When will the authorities get to the bars on Walking Street advertising in bright neon," Russian Women"? The quick answer is NEVER! They are a protected well funded operation that most likely have "partners" in high places in Thailand including the police. These places are not hard to find. They are directly on Walking Street, have bright neon signs and Blond European ladies standing out front.

I am glad to see the low life African ladies gone from under the trees. Please don't take away my lovely Thai ladies.

My next wife might be waiting for me there.    : )

Agree with the first, 2nd is true based on my comment about creating a business around it, that would need real data but men who are looking for fun should be assuming the worst when it comes to sex workers, especially those from nations with extremely high levels of HIV.

I don't really see a business model there in HIV testing. It's cheap and it's often provided at low cost as a Public Health Service. I don't think it's anything anyone has ever tried to make a lot of money from.

Yes, the average rate of HIV infection in Thailand is about 1% and it's about 5% in East African countries. But if you're sleeping with prostitutes, then your risk is higher in general and I wouldn't think that the nationality of the prostitute is going to make that much of a difference. It depends on whether or not the prostitutes are regularly using condoms or not. That's probably the biggest factor. If these women were from a country like South Africa that has an average population HIV infection rate of 20% then than that might be a bigger concern.

Also, if a man sticks with one prostitute on a regular basis, rather than changing the partner all of the time, then that would also reduce the risk for that consumer.

The best solution would be to get all of these workers onto PrEP drugs. They are extremely effective and inexpensive in Thailand, but the problem is that distribution is limited and not wide enough. There are probably less than 50,000 people in Thailand using those drugs. That's probably not enough to prevent the spread of HIV on a wider scale.

TBF it was a bit of a joke, the money is in the lifetime drugs, not the testing. Anyways as I mentioned it's around 12%  for women aged 30 to 50 from Uganda, 5% is the figure for the entire nation, men have it at far lower rates and 30 and under numbers are starting to decline. My personal protection is don't <deleted> prostitutes.

Yes, that's the best policy if that works for you. The other option is to get onto those PrEP drugs yourself.
